IF YOU TAKE BETA BLOCKERS FOR CARDIO (OR ANY OTHER) REASON, DON'T TAKE FLOMAX!!!

They both lower blood pressure and that can make your fell faint and drugged up and totally fatigued.

Beware drug interaction!!

This is important information!! I cannot tolerate doxazosin (passed out @ the garage) so doctor switched me to tamsulosin (flowmax)..2 months ago wound up on my face after getting out of bed and lost 1/2 vision in right eye for 2 weeks--After an ekg, carotid artery screen and optometrist no definite sign of a stroke--maybe a meteor..
Anyway, I can't live without it..no flowmax, no pee..

I also passed out and hit my head the first night. No injury other than bump and a little cut, but could have been much worse, as in your case. Once gravity takes over, we are free falling bodies.
I got the Flomax from my father-in-law who can no longer take it. It was not expired. It was not prescribed by my MD, but everybody needs it after PC treatment, right? Save me some money!!!
But it was not prescribed.
I was explaining my situation to my daughter, who is a very skilled veterinarian. She knows I am on a beta blocker (torporol) and she explained that Flomax and beta blockers both enhance blood flow and lower blood pressure. If you take them both, you will get a double whammy. (And I did)

Learning through my mistakes and sharing so others may avoid:
Never take a medication that your physician does not prescribe and your personal pharmacy does not fill. (I am sure almost any pharmacist would have caught this.)
And if you are taking meds for other conditions, do not assume tamsulosin/Flomax is benign. It is a very potent drug, and it is immensely helpful.
Tell the doc and ask the pharmacist about all your meds. There ARE interactions and they can make you fall down and hit your head.
Or it could be a meteorite....


You can live with low blood pressure and you gotta pee, so the key word is adjustment. Slow down and live. It's more than a bumper sticker....

Yup, same thing happened to me, I was already on a blood pressure pill, either verampamil or lotrel, I can't remember this was like 8 years ago and my BPH was driving me nuts, getting up every 2 hours to pee, no sleep at all. So first I tried cardura, made me real dizzy when I stood up, then flomax, same thing happened again. I was about to start avodart when my psa jumped up, biopsy ordered, pca found, the rest is history. I will say the only good thing about having prostate cancer with robotic surgery is that I can sleep all night with only getting up once to pee now. I sleep so much better. So there is the silver lining to the cloud.

I took Cardora for almost 10 years for enlarged prostate and never had a problem.
