I think the fact that your PSA doesn't have an upward trend is great news. I was a G6 also, but my psa doubling time was a bit alarming, so I had it treated.

I totally agree with AS if that is the way you decide to go.

Sorry you're at this forum, but it's a great group of people who care.

I am in the midst of figuring my own path diagnosed in mid-Dec 2012. The Uro surgeon recommended RP. I did a 2nd opinion at Stanford last week that recommended AS , based on my numbers. I am going for a 3rd opinion. BTW.... I'm canceling my surgery date.

In my case, I struggled with the low PSA #and the extent of the tumor. I did not hear in the original consult that my situation was very low risk. All I heard was get surgery asap. Good advice to bring a 2nd pair of ears to appointments. With the 2nd opinion I know I don't have to take action tomorrow. I will get the 3rd opinion and determine an acceptable AS program. Mean time, I'm going to educate myself on this disease in order to forge a path that I can understand and navigate pro-actively.

Thanks to all for the words of encouragement and support, this forum has eased my mind for the journey ahead. I will be meeting my Uro Mar 7th. armed with greater knowledge and confidence.

And I hope you are recognizing you have a curable illness. Yeah, it can change things, but life is all about changes and adapting.

Hi Everyone, here is an update from my original post dated Mar1/13
I had second MRI on Mar 21/13 which confirmed the 1st biopsy I had on Nov 2/12., however this time the pathologist concluded that the suspicious 2.4 cm located at the mid gland level is "unlikely to represent malignancy as the lack of significant restricted diffusion or suspicious enhancement in this region" having said that I chose for another biopsy targeting that 2.4 cm region.
This time there was only a tumor in the RML of less than 1mm., identical to the 1st biopsy and nothing in the RBL, which involved a tumor less than 1mm. in the 1st biopsy? Everything else was unremarkable.
I have taken the advice from the informed members of this forum, my Uro. & Radiologist and have now been on AS for almost 2yrs. now, due for another meeting with my Uro. Mar, 2015 and another PSA test. I have more anxiety waiting for the PSA results than being on AS.
