Howdy,
Six months ago when I got my PSA results which were .1 they told me my testosterone was low at 224. They had never tested for that before so I was a bit nonplussed. Remember when you first find out about prostate cancer and you go into research mode? Well, I did that with low T to see what it all meant.
Lack of sleep, being out of shape and overweight were all tags for low testosterone. I was guilty of all three and asked my doc what he thought I should do. He thought it would be best to wait to my next six month PSA to review my numbers to see if there was a trend or if it was just an anomaly that I got a low reading.
Well, with six months to think about it and a lot going on in my life with work and family (we did IVF and hit the jackpot with a baby girl in January) I didn't lose weight, with a baby you can forget sleep and I didn't start using weights until right after the baby was born.
That being said at 44 years old I started using the bench press and curls for my testosterone therapy. In just under two months I'm able to bench press 240#'s 10 times. That is the most I have ever done. Go figure? New goal is to lift 315 twice!
So, last friday I had my psa and just got the results 10 minutes ago. I was at .1 the last three visits but they went back to using the ultra sensitive and it read .006 so that is still a good total. Just as important is my testosterone jumped 97 points to 324. That is without losing more then five pounds too. I am scheduled to go back in three months to review and now I'm focused on losing pounds so should be down another 15 which should help my numbers even more.
Life is good and my baby girl gives me plenty of motivation to lose weight and workout. Even if she does make a good nights sleep a thing of the past!
