Alf,
There are no cameras in your camera store that take photos like Ed's. You would also need his eye for composition and his formidable skills in Photoshop. If you aren't into post-processing your photos it might be worth your while to learn a bit about
that before you spend more money on cameras. I think Ed uses Photoshop which is a good choice but costs money. I use PaintShop Pro X5 which also costs money but much less than Photoshop. There is also a program called Gimp that can produce similar results and is free. Gimp isn't very well documented and most Gimp users are computer nerds of some sort or other.
As for Ed's eye, that is a harder problem to solve. When my wife and I go out on a weekend photo safari we have an informal contest to see who will get the best photo. She has very little idea about
the technical issues -- exposure, ISO, how to manage focus -- but she has a better eye than I do. Most of her photos are dreadful -- blurry out of focus things with burned highlights or subjects lost in shadow that can't be pulled out of the noise. But her best photo of the day is frequently better than my best photo of the day. My images are better exposed, better focused, often even better composed, but hers are just better photos. So I've got nothing for you there.
