Thank you all for your kind wishes
Bill - the RP will be performed at UT Southwest in Dallas. Our Urologist/Oncologist is Dr Raj and he has dealt with 5 other cases of Ductal PC. Told me the norm for a Urologist is maybe 1, if they're 'lucky', and my husband really liked this fellow, so I hope we're in good hands.
Been referred to a Pancreas expert. If he cannot determine what the mass is from the MRI, then he will do either a rectal MRI (I think is what he said) or biopsy. So hopefully we will know in the next 2 weeks.
I asked the Dr. about PNI which was noted on 2 of his biopsy cores and he kind of quickly dismissed the question. Didn't persue it, felt he didn't want to unduly scare my husband, or maybe he really feels it is nothing.
From what I've read about Ductal is it is rare and it is aggressive. Likes to travel to other organs via the nerves - thus my concern with the PNI. Unlike other cancers, skips the hassle of having to break through the prostate encasement.
The good news is that from most of the articles I've read, because there are no 'warning signs' that sufficiently alert, most diagnosis are done at a much more advanced stage, with the cancer spread to more than one organ.
In any case, I suppose we'll have to sit and wait and just take it one prognosis at a time....
Thank you for all kind words, PeterDisabled - will keep all posted = and any advice on the RP would be appreciated.
Thx, Christine
