2 days post op

Started the morning off getting poked twice for my IV then got shaved from my nips down. As the nurse started shaving my upper chest I said " you do know Im having a prostectomy right? " She laughed and said thats what they do for robotic surgery. The rest of my pre-op was pretty standard. I met the whole surgical team of about 6 people and everyone was really nice and ready to go. They kept me awake till the last moment as they positioned me in stirrups and that was the last I remembered.
My sisters were there at the hospital and they told me the surgery was only about a hour long, then I went to recovery for about 2 hours. I do remember waking up in recovery a few times and then dozing back off to lala land.
I got a room about 11am and rested on and off. The nurse came and got me for a walk later and we walked the entire floor. She was suprised that I wanted to keep walking.Then I had my delicious jello meal and lemon ice and went back to bed because I wanted to watch the basketball final. I was actually able to keep my eyes open long enough to watch it.
Slept pretty good and went for another walk at 6:15am, ate breakfast, watched a video on prostectomy rehab and went over all my home care instructions with the nurse. Went for another walk and then was released about 2pm.
My hospital experience was very good. The staff was awsome and I didnt feel like I was in a hospital at times. It was quiet and peaceful. I kept calling it a hotel yesterday.
So, I'm home and slept good and was able to shower today. I feel good except for the abdominal pain.The suprapubic is not that bad and Im returning next Monday to have that removed. Getting up and down is difficult at first but the pain meds help. I have little leakage as I get up and it burns a little and I am bloated and bruised under my suprapubic. My hands are a bit swelled as well as my scrotum but nothing major. I had more difficulty with my 2 previous hip replacement surgeries. I have not passed gas yet but that can take a few days. My stomach has been rumbling so that is good. I have a loss of appetite and will be eating light small meals this week as Im waiting for my first bm. Well, got to get moving and get off this disposable invalid ring they gave me to sit on. Can you believe they call it that ! LOL ! Anyway, things are going as expected.

Sounds like you made it through to the other side OK. I wish you a speedy and full recovery.
I remember the nurses telling me I would notice that I was getting better (healing) a little bit every day and they were right.
Funny thing you mentioned the shaving part. I have a great sense of humor and sometimes it comes out at the wrong time. When I was in the pre op room waiting for my turn, two nurses came in. One started to shave me. When she finished with my pubic area I told her " I'm not sure what you did down there but I think you just made me look like a **** star" Both nurses looked at each other kid of funny. I think I embarrassed them.
Oh well.

Donald, glad things went well. Surprised they let you leave without a bowel movement. Boy was I happy when it happened. I had to spend two nights for that reason. My first night home was a lot rougher than yours but it was better than the hospital bed. Hope all continues to go well for you!

Great report Donald, sounds to me like everything went incredibly well at the hospital - now focus on doing what you need to in your upcoming recovery period.

Oh yeah, been using them. My stomach is turning as I type this, could be any time. LOL !
