Any T3bs... Need Advice!

I wanted to hear from any T3Bs and see what there course of treatment is and how they are doing!  I’ve had my surgery and am waiting on my Proton Therapy Appointment!

Just received My PSA 1 month from surgery 001! The nurse said that it was undetectable. I know the first one is important. What does this mean for a T3Ber... I’m scheduled for my Proton Therapy May 8th! They said it’s a 3 Day thing where they have to design something to fit me for the treatment. I think I'm going to do both PT and HT... can anyone give me some advice!

Congrats on the low PSA. The longer it stays low, the better your prognosis.for example, the prognosis goes up according to years of low PSA. Good luck with the radiation.

My father also had some SVI. I don't have a copy of his post surgical pathology report yet, but from what I gather he would be listed as a T3b also. He goes in about a month for his first PSA check. Congrats on your first PSA being low... I am curious though as to what factors led to them recommending proton therapy for you? It sounds like they want to do proton therapy even before a rise in PSA occurs, correct? Is it because you are so young and they want to do what they can to maximize chances for a remission?

I was a t3ber after surgery, but I am also a Gleason 9er as well which is a whole different ball game.

Congrats on your PSA and sounds like you have a good plan.

Hi 49

I'm a fellow T3b and also a Gleason 7 (3+4). I'm now 11 years out from my original surgery and doing great. I had salvage radiation three years ago after my PSA hit 0.4. But since my SRT my PSA is literally 0.00. I may yet fulfill my ambition to be shot by a jealous husband when I'm 90.

I too am a t3b and the good news is that while I was dx in Jan, 2011, I remain undetectable today. I have had four Provenge treatments, RRP, currently completing hormone deprivation and tomorrow will be Session 31 out of 38 for the IGRT/IMRT. Technically, since I had one lymph node that tested positive, I technically am a Stage 4 PCa patient.

Send me an email and give me your phone number and I would be more than happy to visit with you. We have to fight the good fight and show the world that we that are in this stage are fighters and with great treatment options we can prove that we can beat the odds.

That is my statement and I am going to stick to it.

I was also a T3B with Gleason 4+3 and SVI. Since RRP on 5 Nov 2011 my quarterly PSA's have remained undetectable. My next test is next week. By my own choice, I have had no RT of any kind, but have told my URO that at the slightest hint of of a rising PSA I'm ready to go that route.

One consideration in my case is my age. If I were as relatively young as you are, I would take a more aggressive approach.

I was 49 at surgery
upgraded from 3+3 to 3+4, and had SVI
PSA went up after surgery and had to have SRT
After SRT PSA undectable. Still undetecable enarly three years afterv SRT

So the double treatment worked for me.

49er and Fiance,
You have come a long way! I'm it total agreement with you regarding getting radiation now and not waiting for your psa to rise..Kill it when it's down!! Also recommend hormone therapy prior, during, and at least 6-months after the radiation to make it work more effectively..Sounds like you have a good woman helping you cope.
