Trapshooter: I don't post here very often but I thought I'd respond to you because I just went thru the Sand Lake, Dattoli thing in Sept. thru Nov. of 2012.
First of all, what was your PSA when you were at Sand Lake ? Did the scans find the lymph node cancer, was there a biopsy of the nodes or did Dattoli tell you where it was based on the size of the lymph nodes? I have a lot of confidence in Dattoli's opinion.
I am on the same ADT you have just started, I've been on it for 7 months and have 5 months to go. The only difference is that I'm on an estriadol patch not a spray. Dattoli said that the radiation will continue to destroy cancer cells for 8 months after the treatment so he wants the ADT to continue at least that long to continue to weaken the cancer so the radiation can do its thing.
I had 39 treatments, I found the atmosphere at Dattoli's to be the most positive of anywhere I have been up to this point. The men and women I met there continue to correspond with me and all in all it was a very enjoyable experience. I had numerous meeting with Dattoli and asked him once what the % chance of cure I was looking at, he said about 50% of his patients from Sand Lake are still undetectable. We do have to keep in mind that they have only been doing their thing with Sand Lake for 3 years but still that is pretty amazing.
I was talking with Lisa from Sand Lake last week about an insurance issue and also asked her when the results of theirs, Dattoli's and Meyers study would be made public and she seemed to think it was within the next 2 months or so.
As far as the actual treatments go they were very uneventful, by the way I live in the Seattle area so the logistics for me were a little tougher than yours will be.
If you have any questions let me know.
Good luck
David
