Golf and not the riding in a cart drinking beer kind. Meaning carrying the bag, shutting out stress and really focusing on the game, the course itself, playing partners and the peace of it all. Never played as a kid and took it up about a decade ago. Now a single digit handicap and enjoy hunting trophy courses so to speak. Trying to play the Top 100 in the U.S. you can play list.
Until the last few years, I was a pretty serious golfer myself (back in the 1990's I was as low as a 2 and carried a 3 for a full season.) When in high school I played in and finished 83rd in the Quad City open (wasn't a tour event at that time, but rather a Satellite event to the Western open). Then Lupron (weight gain) and declining enthusiasm 'cuz I hate to keep getting worse, has diminished my play (gave up my membership this year).
Favorite courses I've played are Pine Valley, Pebble Beach, Harbour Town, Merion & Spyglass (in that order).
My current obsession is wildlife photography (and I also do a bit of video).
Several folks have mentioned astronomy (I was quite avid in the 1960's). Also, back in the 60's I did a bit of Drag Racing (we won our class in the World Series of Drag Racing).
How's that for an eclectic list?
