Anyone have any experience with Dr. Moul?

Dr. Judd W. Moul, is the doctor at Duke, that my oncologist is trying to set me up with concerning the ongoine bladder spasms and bladder issues.

He is the Professor of Surgery for the Urology Department at Duke.

Has anyone here directly used him before, or know any first hand knowledge about his expertise?

On paper, he double the amount of published papers as did the doctor at MUSC, but I know really know what real value that means in choosing an advanced level doctor.

For those that are better researchers than me, would love to know what anyone thinks about Dr. Moul and his background.

I should have a referral by early next week, based on the phone call from my oncologist yesterday.

any one know of this doctor? would like to talk to someone that has dealt with this doctor, before I commit to seeing him. Duke would be a long road trip for me, want to make sure it will be worthwhile before I make the arrangements. My own doctor is suppose to be doing a thorough phone consult first, before agreeing to a referral. He wants to make sure it won't be a repeat performance of the Dr. "K" episode.

I met him at AUA2010 and he is an ASCO member. I can say that Duke is a top notch center and they have an excellent prostate cancer program and Judd is a big player there.

Tony, was thinking of you when I posted this, as I know that you and Ralf have met lots of the bigger name doctors in the PC world.

My oncologist feels bad after the Dr. "K" thing went bad at his recommendation.

He has higher expectations of getting me to see an expert at Duke. I was amazed at all the papers this doctor has presented. I am not knowledgably enough to know if that really tells a lot about a doctor or not, but sounds impressive to read.

I am fast running out of options on the bladder issues. If this doctor/surgeon pans out, or doesn't have any possible resolution, don't know what I am going to do. It's hard enough dealing with the chronic pain, and then have these endless and increasing bladder spasms on top of that. It's totally unbearable at time. I am hoping for a lot here.

My husband and I interviewed him when we were deciding between surgery or radiation for my husband's treatment. We were so impressed with him and would have chosen him in a heartbeat had hubby chosen the surgery route. He was an army doctor, did (and still does) open PC surgery. VERY knowledgeable, very skilled, very experienced, and excellent bedside manner. We, too, had checked up on his credentials--someone here had recommended him.

that's a good personal recommendation, something I am looking for

I have already had open surgery - failed, and salvage radiation - failed, my interest in him, is he is suppose to be a leading expert also on unusual bladder problems. I had Urostomy surgery after suffering heavy radiation damage. My bladder was bypassed, and I have a stoma, unfortunately, my bladder was left inside. I suffer from very painful bladder spasms, and they are getting worse. One solution is to go in and remove part or all of my bladder, but with the radiation damage, its considered a very complex and risky operation. One top doctor at MUSC has already turned it down.

My oncologist is in the process of talking to this doctor, in hopes that he will see me and help me.

Yeah, Steve, I notice in searches recently, how many of our HW posts pop up.

Also, was hoping that someone here actually used this doctor, there's plenty of general info on him on the net, didn't have any trouble finding that.

Was glad that irmaly had actually met with him, and would have gone with him, had her husband chosen surgery. My bladder issues will take a special doctor that would be willing to take on the radiation damage, which makes a normally risky operation even riskier, or hoping he will have some novel solution that might not require any thing that severe.
