Got invited to go water skiing, but I still wear pads

Its going to be mixed company on a ski boat. We have to put in on one side of the lake, but the skiing area is across the lake with no plans to return to the dock. I sure hate to pass on this, so I need some ideas. I bought some depends shields (very thin pad), but you wouldn't believe how big they got when I put one in a sink full of water.

Sorry, I don't have a solution but I admire the problem.

Trying to figure out how to go water skiing? Cool. Hope you can go. Sounds like a blast.

I had a similar problem with a snorkeling trip in Hawaii. It was a half an hour ride out in a fast boat in fairly heavy seas, then an hour and a half swimming and a half hour ride back.

I wore swim trunks with a built in jock-type lining. I chose one that was a synthetic fabric that doesn't show wet very much. I wore a pad in the swim trunks. When it was time for me to enter the water I waited until the other tourists were putting on their masks and snorkels and jammed my hand in my shorts, pulled out the pad and stashed it in a plastic bag in the canvas bag that had my towel. I wore a cotton tee shirt while I swam and it remained wet enough to hide any leaks on the boat ride back to the dock.

The wet tee shirt is the key. It explains any wetness. If it starts to dry out you can claim to be hot, dunk it in the water and put it back on.

you are going to be wet anyway, do you have long black swim trunks/pants?

I would think a full depends thing would swell up and be too bulky.

this is where a catheter condom device could come in handy if you could find one in a hurry

When I put that shield in the sink, it swelled up in 1.6 seconds. It occurred to me that falling overboard with a pad on could be dangerous. Thanks everyone, keep the ideas coming. I really want to go.

I dumped over a kayak wearing a pair of Depends high absorbency pull ups. The water level in the Pacific Ocean went down a quarter of an inch but I was able to get back in the kayak and waddle back to my room.

Dark swim suit, stay wet. Have fun, I loved to ski.
Drink lots of beer so you have an excuse to jump in the water now and again.

I just got this for snorkeling and boat trips in Cabo this summer. Have not tried it out yet.

Thanks everyone. Another reason why this forum is so great because where else on the net could I ask. I feel a little petty this morning. I am lucky enough to be able to give this a try and I think of those who can't. So with that in mind, I am going for it. It's been 25 years since I put on a water ski, so I should be more concerned about that! LOL

My plan is to just ask everyone to turn around while I remove my medical pad and put it in a zip lock bag. I will take an extra towel to sit on for consideration of the new boat and if need be, ask everyone to turn around while I re-install.

Look for my next thread about my possible upcoming ER visit....

Oh, dang... good news and bad, I see.

He had a wonderful trip and a safe return! Great news Startech.

Looks like the RV still isn't mine. Oh, well...better to still have Startech as a brother than to have his RV.

One product I saw online is called acticuf. Don't know how much the pouch would swell up though in the water. The compression part might be useful and the website says you can use scissors to cut off the pouch part and just use the clamp alone with regular pads.
