I consider myself fortunate to have an Onc that is willing to use what is available to treat this beast. On Friday I start Provenge! Needless to say, I'm excited yet worried at the same time. Will it help buy me more time with my daughters who lost their  mother to cancer in 2010. Will I have any adverse reaction to the infusions? I'm hopeful that things will go smoothly and consider myself blessed that it's available. The ride starts 6/14/13.

Very glad that you are able to start on the Provenge, sounds like your Oncologist is on top of things for you. Hope it works well for you, and that you don't have any bad reactions or side effects. Look forward to getting some good reports from you after you have been on it.

I wish you the best! Sounds like you have an oncologist that is really working for you! You will have to learn how to play a guitar to accompany Todd-lol. I won't drink a beer tonight but a "coke".

Pepsiguy - Best of luck to you, I will be wacthing as provenge may be in the future for me as well.

One question ----Just looking at your signature, when you say "bone scan inconclusive, 2nd scan confirmed" you you mean confirmed with METS???

You also dont seem to be refractory yet, Insurance didn't give you a problem with provenge prior to failure of HT.

Gunfighter enjoy that coke, as we call it, the evil red stuff. lol

Keeping Faith, I don't do the best job of keeping up my signature but yes bone mets were confirmed on that 2nd scan. Also, my psa had moved from a low of .8 on 11/20/12 to 2.4 on 5/13/13. Three small but upward jumps. At which time my Onc pulled me off casodex .

For sure it´ll buy you more time, you are the perfect candidate for this drug, and your PSA rise is slow. Where my father lives, Provenge is not available, so consider yourself lucky. Best wishes to you and your daughters!!
