Can testosterone levels fluctuate when on 3ADT. First test showed testosterone was at 11ngl now second test 1 month later shows 18ngl. I know it is still castrate level but wondering. Dr.Lam said nothing about it when he gave me the results of my last test. 

Yes, "T" levels can move around a little..The Lupron type drugs do not work perfectly and in some men they hardly work at all. You could ask your doc about Casodex to neutralize the left-overs....

Yes Jerry this is my second go round with 3ADT. My PSA at the start of this session was .974. It is now at .058 after 2 months. Thanks all got your replies.

Yes, it will fluctuate, and as you say, anything under 50 is considered "castrate" level. Below 30 may be optimal and some would like to see it below 20. At any rate, your numbers are more than low enough by anyone's standard. What really matters is whether it's keeping your PSA down.

An interesting topic for sure and this is something I've always wondered.

If those T numbers (levels) are correct than you'd think we would have a process(for lack of a better word) in place to hit that magic level only. I mean why put us guys through any more trouble than we need by lowering our T levels to uncontrollable levels when we can achieve the results we need at a pre-specified level?

I think you are raising a good point, and it is not at all clear that getting testosterone down below 20 is necessary or even ideal in every case. Some think that some minimal level of T may be useful in delaying the tumor from becoming castration resistant. My friend was on Lupron+Avodart for one cycle and Casodex+Avodart for another -- he seemed to do equally well in getting his PSA down to undetectable either way, but he really hates the mental haze he gets from Lupron.
