Just got the call with my psa results after stopping the Lupron. I've been off for 9 weeks now. T is 202 and the psa is <.01 tongue hot-flashes are gone, fog is clearing up, joint pain is nonexistent. I see the Doctor on Thursday and I am HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY!

That is fantastic. I did not realize HT could be so effective. Does any one know of cases where there just flat out are no refractory cancer cells in Pca, hence effecting a cure?

that's great news!  you mean your T is over 200 nine weeks after your last shot?  that's fast.  I think 4 months after my last shot my T was still in single digits.

logoslidat: probably the RT+HT, had very good response to treatment.

F8: I was surprised by that number also, will ask the Doc about it, but it would explain some things on the ED front, which, I am also very well pleased.

Southern Comfort: Boy was I ready for the ADT to end. It was really starting to get to me. I don't know how long or even if it will last, but for today I am HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY.

Montiman, got it, failed to read your signature, was lulled in by the Lupron. I still wonder about refractory cells always being a part of the mix….

Ken,
Wow, what a journey! You are now our "poster boy" for rads and ht--congratulations. I think that Southern Comfort and I are in a race to discontinue hormones; my last 6 month lupron shot is in Oct.
I realize that it will take much more than 6 months for it to wear off, but I'm hoping for a lifetime of undetectables without "brain fog, fatigue, and emotional instability"..
You are an inspiration to many of us who were starting to wonder if hormones would really do the job.

Thanks all,

Just returned from my Dr.'s appointment and we were both happy campers. I did ask about the T level and he said that the 202 was higher than he thought it would be but was not completely surprised by it. Given the T level and the undetectable he just said that I should be thankful and he would see me in 6 months.

Very happy for you. And more than a little inspired to read your story.
As I have JUST BEGUN this journey.
orig PSA 240 Biopsy 7/5/13
12 of 12 cores invol
gleason 4 + 4 =8
scans bone & CT clear.
5 days of Casodex @ 50mg & was told to stop,
Then my very good doc (Urologist/oncologist in one) stated me on Lupron 7/25
and he doesn't want to see me again til 10/24!!!
Feel like i've just jumped off the trapeze and was told: "good, now hold it there for 3 mos"
All very anxious making.
Is this typical? Any advice? What to expect? You obviously are a champ and i wish you much continued health

Cenami, your treatment started when they put you on Casodex. Yes, it is typical. The theory is that they weaken the PC as much as they can before hitting it with other treatments, typically RT. It does make sense. My hope and prayer is that it will be successful for you. Keep your chin up.

Really really appreciate your take on my newly-begun treatment. And yes, I WILL keep my chin up.
Have always had a very responsive body, to workouts, to cardio, and indeed to all
drugs so this is all to the good. Again, my sincere congrats and & pleasure in
your recovery. So great for you and for all of us who aspire to your healthy
