Is there anyone who has undergone pleural effusions with metastatic prostate cancer? Any thoughts on that is appreciated.

Just spent some time looking that up in Google, and after all that, have no clue why you might associate it to PCa mets, unless they were in the lungs proper, at which point you'd need to ask a medical oncologist.

Hi 142,
This is bcos they drained liquid from my dads lungs. He is stage 4 Gleason score 9.

I have seen this before in a member of the support group who was being treated with q21 Taxotere. It seems that Taxotere can cause pulmonary toxicity. This patient was treated unsuccessfully with several thoracentesis (lung drainage) procedures. Finally a full course of steroidal treatment completely reduced pleural effussions and normalized apnea.

Medical literature reports this side effect from Taxotere. In some cases, stopping treatment resolves the pleural effusions but in others various treatments are required.

Wish you and your Dad a prompt resolution to this situation.

Purg certainly had more time than I did to browse results, and that worked on your behalf. I ran that query again, and the hits were many pages into the results. At first I was confused by the question - "undergone" gave me the impression of a treatment or procedure as opposed to a side effect or result.

After your additional post, it made more sense.

I'll try to do better next time.
