Hi had the prostatectomy in 2009-cancer free right now -in April of this year I had some scar tissue removed in my penis to prepare for an implant .Have had incontinence ever since -wearing depends and shields all day.I cannot pee properly as it just pours out with no urge or control.Periodically I will pass blood.Needless to say did not get the implant and am pissed off pardon the pun.Has anyone had these issues?I can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. cry

Nickanick, so sorry to hear of the trouble you're having.

I've not had your procedure.  Curious what your doc says about your situation.  Did he/she talk about risks for the procedure before you had it?

well my family doc says may remain incontinent ,my on-cologist shakes his head as he doesnt like my urologist and my urologist says be patient.No my urologist did not say -before I had it -I urinated in 3 prong spray.

Sorry you are having all these troubles. What does your urologist say about your problem and how it can be fixed? This might be an opportune time to do some more doctor shopping. I'd talk to several more urologists about your next steps. If they all say the same thing -- that you need to be patient while your last operation heals -- then well and good. If everyone but your current urologist tells you something else it might be time to move on to a doctor whose story you like better.

Apparently he says it may take 6 mos. to heal and learn how to pass my water normally>In this city there is only him and one other and the other had a smile on his face when he told me I had prostate cancer so I never let him operate.I'm just frustrated WEARING DEPENDS EVERY DAY and feeling wet.

you may want to try a condom catheter, tube, and leg bag-wont be wet anymore-takes about a month to get right size and used to the hookup-send me email if you want more info-

I'm surprised neither physician mentioned the sling or AUS as a last resort.

I'd gather information on the AUS or Advance sling rather than put up with this type of leakage. I had a sling put in after 2 1/2 years of leakage and have not leaked a drop since, I highly recommend it to reclaim your former lifestyle.
