Welcome aboard jacknsan, sorry you had to find us here. As my uro told me, your life will never be the same anymore.
You will be getting all kinds of opinions shortly and you know what they say about
opinions, everybody has one. You are beginning your journey like getting on a roller coaster. You know it will be scary, you don't know what it will be like but in the end, you know everyone before you survived the ride.
Look at my numbers below, I was 10 of 12 core, Gleason 7, positive margins,ECE and final staging at T3a and I had surgery. So far I am pulling Zero PSA readings.
Yes, find the best doctor you can for whatever your decision is. If you don't feel good about
a doctor, he/she probably isn't the one for you. I found the best I could and he did a great job "with what he had to work with" as he told me. I am not suggesting surgery, that was just my decision.
My primary concern was to get it out!!! I can come back with radiation later if recurrence happens. I wasn't truly as concerned about
side effects as I was getting the cancer. Dead men don't have sex as we say here. If I can't have sex any more, well, I had a good run, I thought. Well sex isn't the same but there is sex after DaVinci surgery and the continence issues have been "tolerable". I only gave up 1 year of my life and it gets better daily. ALL of the options have SE's.
You have time but you do need to do something if you have possible ECE. Sounds like you are doing your homework and you have come to a great site. All of us have used every treatment plan that is out there and most of us are doing very well now. You will be okay and live to see your grandchildren grow up.
Good luck with YOUR DECISION!!
