Hi all-

sorry but I cannot seem to get the search feature to search only this forum.  My Dad is now 9 months post-DaVinci prostatectomy and adjuvant radiation.  He has been reluctant to pursue the penile rehab, but I have been encouraging him to try with the "use it or lose it" philosophy. 

He was using the penile pump and cialis 20 mg without much luck, but cost is a factor since his medicare only covers a few pills a month. Certainly not the every other day dosing they are recommending. He will not consider injections.

I am willing to pay cash to make up the difference for the pills, and the urologist office said levitra may be better priced through Canada?  We live in the US, but are willing to try to get it if that's a more cost-effective option. If you know of some reputable canadian sources, I would appreciate a recommendation, or any ideas for cheapest cash options in the US.

If you have any suggestions, please let me know. I would like to get him back rehabbing.

When you created your membership here you gave an email address for the HealingWell software to use to contact you (when someone comments on a thread you have subscribed to, for instance). There is an option in your profile that will make that email address visible to other members who click your name. For questions like this we usually ask that people respond directly to the poster since posting that sort of information on the forum will attract attention from people who want to advertise their products too. If you click "My Profile" on the blue bar near the top of the screen and then click "Edit Profile" it will take you to a page where you can make your email address visible. Look for the question that reads like this:

Show Your E-Mail Address :
You have the option to show your e-mail address with your posts. If you choose to show it, it will be displayed to all members in your profile.


Checking the "radio button" by "Show my Email address" will let people see your email address so they can send you information about the pharmacies they use.

Ha- thank you for this! I didn't know it was not visible to others. I even updated my signature while I was in the profile.

Now... please email me if you have any tips for getting the best prices on these with a reputable pharmacy (I am concerned about doing more harm than good with this by getting some sort of counterfeit crap). 

I picked up his Rx yesterday and it was $40 copay for 6 pills-- not going to last very long with every other day dosing!

Never thought I would be soliciting emails on Levitra- lol. I've been ignoring those Viagra spam emails for years- ha ha ha.

I have been down this same route as your dad. My insurance will not pay for any pills but I found the best cash price (before my RALP) at Costco. I have tried all the pills except Levitra since my surgery over 2 years ago. My URO told me not to waste my money on Levitra as his experience has been it is the least effective for post surgery guys. Your dad may want to consider going the injection route with Trimix, many more of us in this forum are using it with success where pills do not work. The injections, once you get over the thought of sticking your privates, is painless and does not have the side effects of the pills. I buy a 5ml vial of double strength Trimix from a local compounding pharmacy for $104 which is good depending on dosage needed, for 15 to 30 injections and if kept in the freezer can have a 6 month shelf life. So as you can see the cost is way less than the pills. Your dad should talk to his URO about injections or find a clinic in your are that specializes in ED treatment with injections. My URO started me on injections for penile rehab 60 days after my surgery after 30 days of Cialis and 15 days of Viagra did nothing but cost me an arm and a leg after he already took my prostate. Funny thing, it was when I was doing research on Trimix injections that I found this forum and this is the best forum to be found on ED and injections for us prostate surgery guys.

 

If the pills do work for your dad he can do what I did before my RALP buy bigger dosage pills than he needs and split them with a pill splitter. My GP prescribed 100mg Viagra for me and since only 25mg was needed for erections at that time, I split the pills into quarters. 25mg and 100mg Viagra costs about the same per pill too. Sorry to say I do not get a slight rise from even the full 100mg Viagra now and I hate the side effects of blue vision, ring in my ears and the stuffy head. My URO gives me a free trial of Viagra at every visit just to see if my traumatized nerves are doing any better, after over 2 years now I know they will not heal. Good luck with your dad.

Hopefully people will contact you with their off-forum suggestions for controlling the price for your dad's meds. In the meanwhile, here are a couple of things that can me mentioned on the forum that may or may not help.

1) When I was shopping for such things a couple of years ago the least expensive legit pharmacy for Levitra seemed to be Walmart. They had some sort of deal negotiated with the manufacturer that let them sell it for substantially less than anyone else.

2) Some members have had some luck getting insurance companies to waive the six-pill limit by providing a letter from their surgeon that they needed the medicine for rehabilitation after surgery. I don't know if similar things can be done with Medicare and it always seems to be a colossal struggle, but it might be worth looking into.

3) If Levitra comes in a dose that is twice as much as your dad needs every other day then you might be able to get his doctor to write a scrip for that dosage. Then, armed with a pill-splitter you could get 12 doses with the 6 pill limit. At every-other-day that would have him covered for 24 days a month. Levitra is fairly easy to split. The pills are big and round and fairly soft. Cialis is harder to split but it can be done.

Per Peter's suggestion I sent you an email with the contact info for the Canadian firm I use. The product is a generic Viagra called Silagra, and they will require a prescription from your dad's urologist.

lily - Although I personally have not had a bad experience using a Canadian firm, Dr Charles "Snuffy" Myers has bad things to say about that industry in this week's video

My husband uses Viagra. Any "suggestions" on where to buy at a discount would be appreciated. My email is in my profile. We have been purchasing it at Costco, where we have found the best price, but would like to know of possible alternatives.

we have used alldaychemist, which is an Indian pharmacy. we are well aware of the hazards associated with doing this, but in 6 years, have not had a problem. they don't require a prescription, which is kind of scary. I know people who have received "bad" meds from US pharmacies, and we are willing to take the risk using a foreign one.
