Three weeks since DaVinci surgery

Today makes three weeks since my DaVinci surgery, and 5 days since my catheter removal. The surgery lasted 3-1/2 hours, and I feel very fortunate that the cancer was apparently confined to the prostate, and that my surgeon was able to spare both left and right nerve bundles. He also said that both lymph nodes tested were negative for cancer. I had been very concerned about having a gleason score of nine in one core, but with a PSA of 5.9, was hopefull that things hadn't progressed too far.

Now to remain confident that in six weeks I'll have a good test result.

congratulations on some great results so far and best of luck on that G9. Let's hope the surgery got rid of it once and for all.

How are you doing with urinary control and why did you have the cath for 16 days?

That a great report. Glad to hear you're doing well. You have every reason to be optimistic.

Here's hoping all you'll need is the surgery.

Oops, I forgot to explain that when I went in for catheter removal at 10 days, it was felt that there was still too much blood in my urine, so I kept it in for almost another week. After 16 days, the bladder spasms had become pretty intense, so getting the catheter out was a huge relief. There's still a bit of blood in the urine occasionally, but less and less.
Urinary control is fine while sitting or laying down, but still difficult when standing or moving around. I may get through today with three pads, which is an improvement. I'm able to get through walking my dogs for a mile or so with only a spot or two, so things are looking up.

Congrats, Harry. That. sounds like things went as well as anyone could have expected.

An outstanding result for a fellow Gleason 9.

Let's hope for a great result at next bench mark.
