Dan, good luck with your scheduled surgery. It sure would be helpful, though, if we knew more about
you: your age, your Gleason score, number of positive cores in the biopsy, whether the surgery will be DaVinci or "
open," your general health situation, and other specifics about
you and your prostate cancer.
I guess the only thing I hadn't anticipated was the abdominal pain after surgery from gas. I wish I had anticipated that, and I wish the hospital staff had at least informed me that the uro had provided a standing order for simethicone as needed.
I would advise you to read all you can about your procedure; read about the catheter and its care; understand the likelihood of lingering incontinence and loss of sexual function, learn what bladder spasms are, and just read, read, read.
Finally, regarding "healing touch": It might be relaxing, but I sure wouldn't pay any more than I would pay for a good massage at a local spa, and I wouldn't expect anything more than I would from a masseur or masseuse. As soon as I see a website that doesn't know the difference between "affect" and "effect," I question its seriousness. Logical? No, but to me it shows a disturbing lack of professionalism and attention to detail. We all make that mistake, and it's not a big deal at all, but it shouldn't happen on a website like theirs.
