Zero Club? Meh

I am about 10 months in and just had one of my PSA tests.

This is the second time this has happened. I keep getting <0.1 and then 0.1 .

I guess I am teetering member of the zero club

Latest result was 0.1 which is my missing <

 

maybe someone is trying save ink by not printing the < ...

I've just cast my vote - you're in the zero club.

I am not really stressing too much about it this time. Three months ago when it happened I was a little rattled.

I had it checked a week later and it was <0.1 Really the reason I was rattled was this. My pathology didn't look flawless and my surgeon told me when I came back in 6 weeks, "if you ever lost my 'less than' to call me." I needed it checked every three months for 2 years.

This time I am just not all that concerned about it. I'll just wait for the next one before I concern myself too much.

It has always been the same lab that has done it. My urologist doesn't seem too concerned about it so, I haven't started checking my guns to decide which one its gonna be.

Real reason is to find out if its pretty normal for people to have this type of deal happen and not worry about it.

I know there are many others here who disagree, but this is why I think a more sensitive test - to two decimal places -- is more appropriate with one very important caveat. Readings of 0.01, 0.02, and even 0.03 should be assumed as noise down in the mud at the bottom of the screen. But above that range the test provides valuable information -- especially when looked at not based on any single test, but as a trend over time. I know in my case, I was able to monitor a very long and very slow increase over a number of years before I needed salvage radiation. Personally I'm glad that I was able to monitor a long slow increase, rather than get a sudden surprise. Also, FWIW, when I finally hit 0.1 I stayed there for 3 years before the PSA started moving again --and since SRT I'm still zero (<0.02).
