Hi,I wasn't sure where to post, I'm a little worried, so if you wouldn't mind answering my questions I would really appreciate it, otherwise, please direct me to the correct forum. I'm a 28 year old male and my issue started about 3 weeks ago when I had an episode of blood in my ejaculate. The ejaculate was a slight pink. Two more episodes of ejaculate were a bright pink and a final episode before the visit to the Dr was mostly blood.I also had an episode of slight blood in my urine after straining with a stool. The blood was slight and came out at the very end of my BM. The night before the first episode I had intercourse with my girlfriend, although I wouldn't say it was rough.The Dr analyzed my urine for bleeding or infection, and he also used a dipstick...both tests came back negative. I started a script of doxycycline 100mg, 2 times a day and the bleeding stopped. A week later I visited the Dr again, worried about a slight ache in my sacrum and right hip...a very small area of the hip. The pain doesn't hurt when I am mobile, but seems to ache at night. At the moment I am lying down and I can't feel it, so some part of me believes I may be anxious and causing the pain. My question is, does this sound serious? Would cancer related bleeding from the prostate/tumors stop with antibiotics? Does the pain sound serious? It is more of a mild convenience, and hasn't progressed much in 3 weeks. Thank you.

Highly unlikely that any of this is related to prostate cancer. Could be any number of things, from the routine to the serious, so I would relax, take it one step at a time, and let the docs figure it out for you. I wish you all the best.

It could well be prostatitis, which is quite common at your age.

Prostate cancer would be way way way down on the list of possibilities

I 2nd that, you are too young for a PC. Get a doctor to analyse your problem

No, the Dr suggested it was ok considering antibiotics have cleared up the bleeding.

If your doctor says that, ignore him imo and get one. You say you have never ever had psa test. Caveat if you are under 40 and have no close relatives with PCA, ignore me. Otherwise get a new doctor and get one. Thats my advice, some would disagree. Most here would not, especially with your symptoms, which are indeed PCA symptoms as well as a host of other urological maladies Please say yourr age.

I'm 28,with no family history of PCA. I came to this forum to seek the opinion of others who had/have a close relationship with this disease. Information is vague elsewhere, and it's seemed to me that the most educated & experienced advice would be here. I'm sorry if I have offended anybody.

A good urologist is the place to begin. In my situation I sought a urologic surgeon at a urology department of a major medical school. His colleagues in the same clinic are experts who practice in various sub specialties of urology. This might be the best place to begin. Find a doctor whose colleagues practice in sub specialties; therefore, if your doctor does not know the answer perhaps he can call upon his colleagues.

My personal opinion which is not a medical opinion, is to get a PSA test. Also, there might be other diseases and cancers that need to be ruled out. As an interesting footnote when I had radical prostatectomy my low back and hip pain ceased.

Bottom line, seek medical intervention from a qualified experienced group of urologists who are willing to undertake diagnostic testing.

Hello Romde, Since nobody seems to have remembered to say it, welcome to the forum. Sorry you have worries at your tender age (I have shoes older than you are) but is is highly unlikely that you have prostate cancer.

But, on the other hand, it sounds like you do have something. Prostatitis (an infection) is likely. If antibiotics make your symptoms better that sounds like an infection. Sometimes prostatitis can be hard to get rid of. You could also have kidney stones. If it continues to bother you you should make an appointment with a urologist and let him figure it out.

This happened to me about 12 years ago. Believe it or not, blood in the ejaculate is not all that uncommon -- and is usually is NOT anything serious.

Sometimes the tiny blood vessels associated in that general area tend to burst and the result is small blood content in the semen.

This should clear itself up as time goes on.

Resident of Highland, Indiana just outside of Chicago, IL.
July 2011 local PSA lab reading 6.41 (from 4.1 in 2009). Mayo Clinic PSA Sept. 2011 was 5.7.
Local urologist DRE revealed significant BPH, but no lumps.
PCa Dx Aug. 2011 at age of 61.
Biopsy revealed adenocarcinoma in 3 of 20 cores (one 5%, two 20%). T2C.
Gleason score 3+3=6.
CT of abdomen, bone scan both negative.
DaVinci prostatectomy 11/1/11 at Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN), nerve sparing, age 62.
My surgeon was Dr. Matthew Tollefson, who I highly recommend.
Final pathology shows tumor confined to prostate.
5 lymph nodes, seminal vesicles, extraprostatic soft tissue all negative.
1.0 x 0.6 x 0.6 cm mass involving right posterior inferior,
right posterior apex & left mid posterior prostate.
Right posterior apex margin involved by tumor over a 0.2 cm length, doctor says this is insignificant.
Pathology showed Gleason 3 + 3, pT2c, N0, MX, R1
adenocarcinoma of the prostate.
Prostate 98.3 grams, tumor 2 grams. Prostate size 5.0 x 4.7 x 4.5 cm.
Abdominal drain removed the morning after surgery.
Catheter out in 7 days. No incontinence, occasional minor dripping.
Post-op exams 2/13/12, 9/10/12, 9/9/13 PSA <0.1. PSA tests now annual.
Semi-firm erections now happening 14 months post-op & VERY slowly getting a bit stronger.

My bad missed the age,Stay with your wise and trusted Doctor. I t would be highly highly unlikely that you have PCA, so keep that off the worry list. In no way have you offended anyone you came to the right place.

Hello, Romde and welcome to HW. As others have said, you are very unlikely to have prostate cancer. I'm certainly no doc but it sound like an infection to me. Since you have not had much progress in3 weeks, I suggest you visit a urologist. Good luck and please let us know what happens.
