3 months after surgery PSA 4.5???

Wampuscat Jim said it all. I was shocked with the persistent PSA. I would suggest that you read my posts regarding PSA tests to make sure you don't have a false PSA due to interference. Radiation had a lot of effect on my cancer, wish I would have had brachy or just radiation because I've had permanent problems after the surgery that still linger.

Good luck, seek out the best informed doctors from this point on. I've also fired a few myself when they give you that deer in headlights look when you ask if they have ever seen PSA persistence before. If they don't about it RUN to another doctor immediately.

Ok Robo, I reread your signatue and i mistakenly read the - after svi and epe as negative rather than a pause. this was in your last couple of posts. So I am not confused on that point. I apologize for any confusion that my last post nay have caused you. I am still confused as to how your oncologists could tell you they thought it was contained , when the post op clearly says, you have SVI. The only thing I can figure is that they feel dissected SVI, even when Positive means cancer contain. Not a standard meaning of contained. They meant, imo, They think they got it all. Which hopefully they did. Ht was there choice to mop up. Not an unheard of treatment. I have answered my own question. Hi All!

Well life has been clicking along and I have been checking in periodically over the last year and a half. Last spring HT was moved from 10 to 24 months, and PSA was staying <.05. I was looking forward to finishing HT at the end of this summer, but that thought came to a screeching halt yesterday. Last PSA I had was 10/3/14 (<.05 for over a year), for my 12/31 appointment the lab preformed the wrong test… Yesterday my PSA jumped to 2.09. Not sure what is going on, but took a second test today to confirm.

So begins the next phase of this battle. I hear there are a lot of new treatments when HT fails, I was just hoping not to look into them for a while, oh well. Kind of depressing I can’t get a head of this. The funny thing is outside of the surgery, radiation, and Lupron side effects I feel Great! Hard to believe there is cancer in my body.

This forum has been great for me, I very much appreciate the support and knowledge gained! I send out my prayers to all of you and your families, I know too well what you are going through.
