I just cited several RCTs that showed exactly what you are looking for. Perhaps I could have been more clear...
RTOG 85-31 compared long-term adjuvant ADT to RT alone
RTOG 86-10 compared neoadjuvant+concurrent ADT to RT alone
RTOG 92-02 compared neoadjuvant+concurrent ADT to long-term (2 yrs) ADT
EORTC 22961 compared 6 months of ADT to 2 1/2 yrs of ADT
EORTC 22863 compared long-term (3 yrs) of ADT to RT alone.
The
British Columbia study compared short-term ADT (6 mo.) to long-term ADT (18 mo.)
The
UMich study found "there was a duration-dependent improvement in biochemical failure, metastasis, PC Specific Mortality, and Overall Survival, all favoring long-term androgen deprivation in comparison with short-term androgen deprivation or RT alone."
As you see, all the studies show the same thing -- a survival advantage to long-term ADT following RT for high risk PC. There are many things about
PC treatment that are not proven, but this is very well established and is the standard of care based on all the research that has been done.
