It has been three days since my catheter was yanked out (literally). I am 98% continent and doing very well. But I have found a couple modus operandi that would cause me to dribble for a second.
Can anybody else had to this?
1. Sticking hands in warm water
2. Stepping out of a warm room into the cold outside.

My "uh oh" moments were:
1. Passing gas
2. Driving my car in reverse. (I'm not kidding. Turning my body 180 degrees to look over my right shoulder and watch out of the rear window would somehow trigger a tiny leak.)
Both of the above resolved themselves after a short time.

I was lucky in that I stopped wearing pads after only three weeks, but there are times I still don't trust passing gas.

i dribbled once when some 6 weeks out of surgery I went to gym and like a complete idiot did a back exercise with three 45lbs plates. It was my last back set so it wasn't the gym, it was that particular exercise.
Driving the car in reverse?
lapilot - wasn't there a joke in college where you'd put the finger of a past out friend in a cup of hot water and then an entire room of people would watch him/her pee themselves??? This didn't only happen at my college, right?

Passing gas? Fugetabout
it. I may never do that again. Anything that shocks the system or startles me. I said on another thread that I feel that just 3 days out from the catheter, I'm doing a perpetual Kegal everytime I feel any stirring down there. But I'm dry.

I've gotten in the habit of letting my bladder fill as much as possible during the day under the theory that stretching it out will allow me to go longer before the urge to pee wakes me at night. Either my theory is correct or we all just get better over time cuz I can go 5-6 hours straight at night now. Anyway, if my bladder is very full I can lose a couple drops with a sudden movement. And farting. I'm finally getting the habit of the little extra focus it takes to pass gas and not lose a few drops. It's been 8 weeks and I see a few drops in the pad every other day, but the pad doesn't bother me at all.
I live in NY and it's FREEZING around here now. I'm glad stepping out into the cold doesn't affect me or I'd have a frozen pad!

Passing gas and sneezing will do it every time for me. My problem is I never sneeze just once, it is usually three or four. My body contorts all kinds of ways as I try and prevent the leakage while on my sneezing frenzy,

davidg,
Many years ago when I was undergrad, I volunteer at a fire station and the guys there used to pull the hand in warm water routine. Luckily they never pulled that on me since I lived close by the station and never had to spend the night there.
So far passing guess hasn't caused in problems, but it does require concentration to prevent the oh oh moment.
It is only 4 days since catheter removal and I too have been trying to train my bladder by letting it get full before I use the bathroom. But I still get up every 1 1/2 to 2 hours to pee.

Sneezing and blowing my nose. I now dread colds. Although I'm 2 1/2 yrs out, a fairly new one is just after using the restroom when I'm turning to leave, a dribble. Sometimes sizeable. Kegals don't help. UGH.

On the other hand, when I walk up to a urinal with a full bladder, pull down the elastic on my briefs (and pad) so I can take aim and FIRE like a teenager, that feels pretty good! I was unaware of any peeing issue before surgery, but now it's READY, AIM, F-woohoo!

I tend to leak when I am in a gravity field or my epidermis is exposed to air or water of any temperature. When the gravity field aligns with the long axis of my torso I tend to see my leaking increase.
I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned leaking when they get an erection. It's a classic.

Just had a mild case of food poisoning and found out that puking my stomach out caused a little squirt with each upchuck.

Hitting a golf ball is my big issue...or when I get ill. All the other ones have dried up...farting, sneezing, lifting heavy objects. Done.

I forgot to mention cutting up a downed tree with a hard-to-start chain saw. That's always a four-pad day for me.

Even though I'm still having ed issues, it appears every time I have sexual thoughts or attempt an erection the stirrings cause leakage.
