My husband had his first testosterone test just before Christmas, it was 0.9, we got a call from the GP who wanted to see him as he thought it seemed low (obviously didn't know it was supposed to be low)anyway we went to see him last night and he had received a letter from the Consultant at Jimmys in Leeds who said that if in two months my husband's level was still above 0.3 he would prescribe a drug, I think it was casodex but it wasn't called that. Trying to find out if this should be prescribed now instead of waiting two months. Its been 12 months since he started with Zolodex and psa now down to 0.08 from 48.6 worried about how long this will stay down.

Dabby could you post your husbands stats, such as primary treatment, pathology report, biopsy results as that would help others provide a response to your question. I am on casodex and 6 month shot of Eligard after having robotic surgery and then salvage radiation. I haven't had me T level checked just my PSA at this point.

My husband was diagnosed in December 2012 his psa was 48.6 and gleason 7 4+3, there was involvement of one lymph node.  He was put on casodex to start with then Zolodex, he had radiotherapy for 7 weeks in June/July 2013.  His psa is in December 2013 was 0.08 and first testosterone test was 0.9.   The Consultant is thinking that if the testosterone level is still not reduced in a month or two then he thinks casodex together with the Zolodex should be looked into.  Urologist we first saw said that zolodex could only last about 18 months.  However notice on this site that this could be longer.

Dabby I will bump this up, but his PSA is responding to current treatment. At some point we become resistant to one drug and they try us on another. My latest was undetectable, which dropped from 27.6. So it could last longer and at some point they might changes drugs. I did not have another shot of Eligard and still take Casodex and will have my PSA checked every three months to see if I need another shot.

But as long as his PSA is responding I would be very happy. Keep us posted.
