anxious for psa results

I had PCa 3 years ago. I was TC1 with a PSA of 3.89. I had one positive spot. I had RP surgery. The pathology report came back 3+3 tertiary 4. I had all negative margins and nothing found outside my prostate. I know there are men here in alot worse shape than I. That doesn't stop me from being very anxious when my psa test comes around. All reports so far have been undectectable. Does anyone else know of anyone with my pathology results and how they are doing long term. Thanks for any info.

Do you play golf? Because, if you do you should be careful around the tee. You have about as much chance of being injured by a shanked tee shot as you do of your cancer recurring. That's not to say that either of those problems can't happen. They do. But the comparison should help you calibrate your worrying.

Welcome to the forum. And welcome to the zero club. It's a bit like being a member of the automobile club -- it's not that much fun, actually, but it's worth the bother to keep up you membership.

Hi Vinny,
We all get PSA anxiety while waiting for our results to come back, regardless of what our Gleason score or pathology report was. But for the sake of your peace of mind I suggest you run your numbers through the nomogram I've linked below.

If you first see a Disclaimer page, hit the "I Accept" button and then select the nomogram for "Post-Radical Prostatectomy" If you plug in your numbers you should get something in the neighborhood of 99% chance of being recurrence-free 10 years after the date of your surgery.

I know the Gleason 3+3 is very good. It's the tertiary 4 that has me concerned.

Where did the tertiary 4 come from? I don't think my pathology had that word listed anywhere, but I may go double check it now.

Axeman just post his 9 year PSA results - still zero. Be not afraid! (even tho the anxiety is normal).

Inch- I had the surgery done at Johns Hopkins. Only about 15% get a tertiary. That means most of my pathology was 3 but less than 5% was a 4.

I just got my results from Hopkins- undetectable for the 3rd year. Thanks to all of you for ur support.
