ED Update - still very early in the process, I know

I'm only four weeks out from surgery, but my doc has encouraged me to find any way to have sex that seems to work for my wife and me.

So far, Cialis has done nothing. Not really surprising.

We've had some fun without erections.

A VED works somewhat and there was even penetration last night. But, I have to say things felt kind of numb and not a lot of fun.

I sent an e-mail to the doc asking about TriMix and his response was very enthusiastic. He thinks that I should definitely be giving it a try. Can't say I'm looking forward to the injection itself, but I had been doing intra-muscular shots of testosterone before my PCA, so I think I can handle this.

He wants me to come in for a demo on how to do the shot correctly.

Insurance pays for none of this - Cialis, the VED, or the TriMix, but I don't really care. I just want some quality time with my wife. I have to say that I hope she feels the same way.

On a per-use level, shots are cheap compared to Cialis.

I've been e-mailing back and forth with the doc's office today. (I work in healthcare IT and I honestly think the biggest thing that has come out of fancy EHR systems is the ability to do private, web-based e-mails with your doctor and the doctor's staff, rather than playing phone tag or waiting weeks for an appointment)

So, I asked a question about TriMix yesterday. The doc said yes, very enthusiastically. They sent me a list of compounding pharmacies and said to pick one. I picked one close to my office. They set up an appointment for Thursday, so that I can come in and be shown how to do the injections properly.

And, I've been in touch with the compounding pharmacy already.

Now, if they are going to inject me down there, I'm guessing that will create a problem for the drive home. Regretfully, my wife will be a long distance away in her office when the drug takes effect. And, I've never heard of a "happy ending" option at a medical appointment.

But, I'm happy to be headed down this path for now.

Usually they let you hang around until things start to subside. Pleated front pant are helpful for the checkout desk. Oh, and take something to read.

I'm six weeks post RALP, and have had no penetration even though my wife has been wonderful about this.
I'm taking Cialis 5mg daily. I see the Doc next Wed. for the first post PSA report. I'll ask about alternatives then.
My wife doesn't like the idea of a mechanical pump, maybe she'll change her mind after meeting with the Doc.

stay+ I'm confused at your wife's view of the VED. We have been using it since I was two months out (4 years ago) and it has done the job. It is also very helpful for recovery therapy and general penile health. Regards Inkhorn

Thank you for the response. I think it's the mechanical part she doesn't like.
She's a nurse, so hearing it from the Doctor will be the input she needs. To me it's like wearing a knee brace.

Must be an RN issue. My wife is a retired RN and feels that I should wait for the nerves to wake up before trying any devices. I tried 100mg of Viagra with some success but I'm not anywhere near being back to normal. I was 3 months post op this week and feel great. I'm back to work full time. Can't wait for some warmer wx on this mountain.

My boyfriend had surgery 10/21/2013. Meds help some but not enough for intercourse. Started using pump around New Years. It has been a huge help. it has allowed us to have intercourse both with and without the use of rings. The meds get him started and the pump gets him the rest of the way. He uses it daily for rehab too, and I think it is really helping. Not sure why some ladies wouldn't encourage this. My feeling is that all of this; the meds, the pump and having sex any way possible helps wake up those nerves! He will probably try injections next, but until then, the pump and meds are makin it happen!

At 10cc I believe my Trimix costs 55 cents per date. Lol

If you haven't already been told, go to the Cialis website and print out their free sample coupon and as long as you have an active prescription from your doctor, you can get a free sample right from your pharmacist.

For those that mentioned the free Cialis, I did that before I had the surgery. I had some ED issues after the biopsy (I think it was related to stopping testosterone as well), so I've used up that silver bullet, at least for this year.

I just picked up a vial of TriMix today at lunch from a local compounding pharmacy. It was $59 for 4ml, with the starting dose listed at 0.1 ml. Lots of refills available.

I have an appointment with a urology nurse to do the first injection on Thursday morning.

If I follow the rules and wait 48 hours, I'll get to try it for real sometime this coming weekend.
