Trimix compound quantities

Hi
My primary care physician gave me a prescription for Trimix with the following numbers

30 mg of papaverine, 1 mg of phentolamine and 20 PGE1

Normally, the numbers are:

30 mg of papaverine, 2 mg of phentolamine and 20 PGE1

What could be the difference between the 1 mg in phentolamine?

I can still call the doctor and asked him to change the number, but I am not sure what the results of the number could be, if difference does not amount to much, I will leave the rx as is.

I'm not aware that there is a "normal" mix. I've seen people talk about Trimix #1, #2, etc, but at my pharmacy (I asked this a couple of years back when this question came up) they require a stated mix with all three values. They would not tell me what the most common was - HIPPA law and all that.

My uro said he sets the values based on the patients history, and that he does not have a generic starting point.

My mix is PAP30 PHEN0.5 PGE0.01MG/ML

I would get it filled, go back and do the training injection with the doc, and go from there. The prescription can be changed for the next batch if need be.

There are lots of threads here about trimix and composition over the years, give it a search.

I don't know that the different parts do either... What I do know it that my URO lowered the mixture so that I'd go from 10 units to 20. I got better results with more of the weaker mixture.

I think it's usually the prostaglandin that does the heavy lifting, so to speak, and I don't know how much you will notice a difference from the smaller amount of phentolamine. Odd that it is different, though. Mine has been 30/2/20 since I switched from the watery starter mix. I don't know how much 'compounding' my compounding pharmacy does locally. I suspect they just add sterile water and give the vial a shake. The actual mixing of the drugs probably happens somewhere else.

My trimix comes identifies itself as "super" on the commercially printed label. Sometimes I think it may have been contaminated with Kryptonite at the plant.
