My AS update

Last reading was 4.95. My highest level. Dr. is pushing for another biopsy in 2015. I will push it to December as it was a very horrible experience for me.

Hi Jim, I was under the first biopsy. lol It was the recovery and painful urination that bothered me. I just don't handle these things well.

I am not worried about the large jump, no more than the large drop from 4.65 to 3.86. (wink)

Plus I have been passing 6mm to 8mm kidney stones almost annually for the last three years. The last kidney stone about 4 months ago had me seriously wondering if it is worth it, the breathing in and out thing... Still have a crappy attitude. lol

Jim, It seems your PSA has been fairly stable and I cannot believe you haven't had a biopsy since 2-10, Way To Go!

My Oncologist at MSKCC says PSA is going to jump around, its expected, that is why he recommends every 6 months not 3 mo.  You might want to consider a MRI guided biopsy for your next go around.  We need more people following AS to post on this site.  Best of Luck

Just want to post that I am one of the people on AS, Dx in Aug 2012. Just had a second biopsy (18 months instead of 12 months). Second Bx, 1 out of 15 at G6, 2 are pre cancer (I think - still waiting for the written report).

 So far, I have had two MRI fused - color Doppler ultrasound - biopsies,

two color Doppler ultrasounds without biopsy,

two parametric 3T MRI- both times before biopsies and used in the biopsy procedures,

one Prolaris test (genetic test using the samples from the first biopsy).

PSA blood test every three months, I do two every three months a few days apart, one at Quest Lab, and one at my doctor's Lab, using one as a control in case there is a drastic change. I think I am going to reduce the frequency of my PSA test, it is getting to be a pain in the butt.


Remain on AS for now.
