GFMPH FLORIDA March 2014- 25 Days -

Just completed making our reservations in the Marriot Hotel in Titusville, FL. Arriving Friday, 3-21 (if there's any activity on Friday, we can make arrangements to arrive Thursday evening) and departing Monday morning, March 24, 2014.

Looking forward to a great first time with the group. We're so excited and can't wait to meet and greet everyone!

Please let us know if there's anything we can bring or help do to make things easier on you!

Dave, there is no formal schedule for GFMPH, except one. At one point during Saturday, all of the guys gather in an out of the way spot to do sort of a round circle or table discussion. This is the time that each of us has the opportunity to share, discuss or ask questions. It is the bonding time we have to discuss Pca. For the most part, except in small private conversations, that we spend time talking about Pca.

The days are otherwise filled with good/great eats, camaraderie, bonding and merriment.

Most of the folks arrive by Thursday evening (or sooner for the party'ers) so that they can have the full days of Friday and Saturday to get together. Many are still here on for a full day on Sunday, but most have to catch plans or start their travels back home because of work.

From past experience, there will be a number that will arrive as early as Tuesday and not leave until the following week.

I would think that many coming down to Florida this time of year may plan some other excursions around Florida since they are already here.

It is totally fluid is the only way I can describe it.

First off thanks for the post and more importantly opening your home for this event. As I am a newby on HW and only seven weeks post op this is all still new to me.

At the present I am back to work, and will work at my current job another 6-8 weeks then will more than likely transitioning into another line of work, something that has been in the works since before I had my first biopsy and knew I had PCa.

So at this point in time I am sure that I will be unable to come to this one but will keep future dates in mind. Had I known there was one in Rochester in SEP, I would have been there..only a few hours away...

Paul, sorry you can't make it down for this one.

The one in Rochester always takes place the last weekend of September, we will look forward to meeting you there.

Sonny...I see the dates for the hotel reservations you blocked, but what are the actual dates for the GFMPH?

If it works like the other GFMPH gatherings I have attended the endpoints will be somewhat indistinct. The most popular times to arrive will be Thursday evening or during the day Friday and people will start drifting away Sunday evening or Monday morning. Some people will arrive sooner or stay later (there's stuff to see in central Florida). The most important stuff happens Friday evening and all day and into the night on Saturday.

Steve, the actual dates are anytime startingThursday, March 21and all day Friday and Saturday 22nd-23rd.

I have sent you an email with a little more info.

But to answer the question more specifically, Friday and Saturday are the days that everyone is here all day. The rest of it just depends on your schedule and how much fun you want to have and how long you can be here.

I personally have been known to show up as much as a week ahead, to lend a hand getting ready and still been there for a week after.

I wanted to add a request to all of the attending guys. If you have any supplies that you don't require anymore such as syringes, alcohol preps, pumps, auto-injectors, etc... please bring them to Sonny's gathering in case some of the other members can make use of something that would normally end up being thrown away. I've contributed to, and I've received from, the "Swap Shop" myself.

By my calendar, we are now at 55 days until the first guests arrive for GFMPH.

Sherry and I are excited that the time is drawing near. And we are also going into a higher gear in making preparations for the event.

We look forward to seeing all of you that have committed to be here and welcome any of you that are still on the fence. Just let me know as soon as possible if I need to add you name to the list. I am still waiting on a couple to confirm, but the following is my most current list of confirmations:

Hey Sonny! It was nice talking to you today.

It's a bummer, but as I mentioned we won't be able to make the March GFMPH event after all. With me in charge of moving my recently completed lab back up to Michigan (boo), I'm totally buried. They want this done yesterday, so we're loading semis with equipment down here, unloading them up there, and working with contractors on both ends to disconnect, move, install, and so on. Sheesh.

There's a list as long as my arm of reasons not to move the freakin' lab, but our upper management has "a vision". I have a 13000 sq ft lab here, with about $3 million worth of assets to move. We're cramming it into a little over 7000 sq ft there.

Reviewing resumes, because of course nobody here will move up there and it's a complete loss of my skilled technical staff. I have 10 technical staff here, and since I'm losing them ALL I have to start from scratch in Michigan. Of course, while never causing any disruptions in ongoing testing. Makes me a bit nauseous just to think about it.

Sigh.... at least the stress of all that has pushed PCa well back in my mind. I enjoy chatting with everyone here, but my personal health concern level has dropped off the radar for now. (Of course, I'm waiting to hear my PSA number from today's blood test, but happily it's not at all worrisome.)

We'll definitely have to catch another GFMPH event, north or south. :) We are looking forward to the Alaska cruise in June, so that's something.

Redwing, I too enjoyed out conversation yesterday and totally understand why you can't be here. We were looking forward to meeting you and the Mrs. Many of the folks that were on the cruise spoke very highly of you guys and thought you would really enjoy the GFMPH events. Hope you are able to make it to one in the future.

For the rest of you, panic has started to set in. As of this morning, it is only 38 days until our first guests arrive and 41 until the event kicks off. We have a lot to do, but believe me it is a labor of love and we can't wait for you to get here.

Sorry to hear jym62 can not make it to this GFMPH, maybe he can join us in Rochester.

Glad to hear Ray the SteelGuy can take his place.

Now if jym62's GFMPH shirts happen to fit Ray and his spouse, that would be an amazing coincidence.

Just threw that in as a reminder for those who have not yet responded to Sonny's request for shirt sizes.

Jeez, it can't get here fast enough. I have a lot to do but it is keeping me busy so I am not thinking about the possibles SEs from the new HT plan that I started.
