PSA <.01,.02,.03 vs. <0.10

Different PSA asays have different minimum values.

<0.1 means the lowest possible value on that test for that lab is 0.1 and yours is lower than that.

In a sense, <0.01 is better. But remember the <0.1 could well also be <0.01

When the doc writes you a lab order it is either for the standard test or the ultrasensitive test. If it is for the ultrasensitive test you will get a result to the hundredth or thousandth place e.g. .02 or .017. If it is for the standard test you will get a result to the tenth place e.g. .1.

It is not a question of what lab you go to (usually). Most labs can do either test. It is a question of what test your doctor ordered. Some docs don't order the ultrasensitive test because it can make a patient unduly anxious. Other docs order it because it gives earlier warning that something may be going wrong before the patient hits the conventional threshold for action. WE each have our preferences. It is something for you to discuss with your doc.
