A physical therapist will work with how to do kegel exercises, and talk as well about general exercise, and what foods / drinks / medications can cause bladder irritation (and therefore increase incontinence). Not all surgeons believe in kegels. Some here will say they were unneeded or had no benefit. I found them, on balance with a daily walking plan, to help, and my surgeon was of the school that believes that they are sometimes helpful, enough so that they are not wasted effort.
If your surgeon does not think they are useful, try going through your GP to get a referral (if you have to have one).
Has there been a discussion of food & drink? My uro got to that very quickly, and over time I've had to dismiss anything carbonated, and acidic drinks such as orange juice. A beer after 5pm is a guarantee of washing the sheets at 3am for me.
