    Here I am 2 years after my "nerve sparing" surgery.  I have now given in to the fact that my doctor wasn't as good as he said he was.  I know that I now will have ED the rest of my life. My life is better though because I know that I am cancer free now.

    So, I have been doing injections for about 5 or 6 months.

    I started out with bimix for 4 months but I never got more than 50% for 20 minutes.  I am now on trimix with a 30-1-40 mix. I started out injecting .4 and I am now at .8 and still not much better than the bimix.

    I realize there are alot of different mixes, I see 30-1-10 or 20, are the most common. 

    I am just not too crazy about injecting .8 or .9 to get very poor results.  I see that some of you can even get away with .2 plus or minus.

    I know I will have to ask for a new mix but what should I look for?  Any suggestions?

    I don't mind the shots but I would like to know that I will have something that will work like it should.    Thanks!!

We had a thread about the various strengths of Trimix a while back.  Jeff (Worried Guy) put together this table:

Your mix seems pretty strong compared to these.  But there's usually something that can be made to work.

Have you talked to your doctor about the possibility of a venous leak?  They can cause trouble even at high doses.  There are things that help with them too but quite a few guys with venous leaks wind up getting implants.

Technique could be the issue. My boyfriend had a terrible time getting it right. If you don't hit the right spot, it's not going to work, no matter the dose.

Wessy, your trimix formulation is a wee bit stronger than mine (the trimix double formulation). I started out, not with bimix, but with the trimix single formulation. My first injection in my uro's office was 10 units (using the insulin syringes). I was sent home with the trimix single and told to slowly increase the dosage until I found the right dose.

I never did find the right dose with the trimix single, increasing the dosage up to 95 units without producing a usable erection. After about 4-5 months of this, my uro put me on the trimix double and again I went up to 95 units without getting an erection useful for sexual intercourse. I don't know why but I suspect I had a venous leak. Anyway, I kept injecting 95 units of trimix double 2 or 3 times a week just to get the semi-erection I had been getting.

Then suddenly, I started getting a firm erection at that dosage! I kept at that dosage for several weeks and then decided to see if I got the same result at a lower dosage: 85 units. I did! So, I kept gradually lowering the dosage until I found a dosage that didn't work. I'm all the way down to 20 units now and still getting great results. I have idea how much lower I can go before I start to level off permanently.

So, please be patient and don't give up. No one knows when improvement may eventually kick in. I was pretty despondent about my situation and thought I'd never have an erection again. But at some point about 6 months ago, it started working. I hope you have the same success as I did.

Mike and others- No oral ED meds or muse do anything still after 4 years and I have for the same period of time been using the VED and cock rings. They have been effective but now starting to irritate my scrotum if active too much. I'm 4.5 years out and developed Peyronies about a year and half ago, so it is a constant challenge to get hard and "stay ahead of the curve" so to speak. I suspect I have a very bad venous leak, because I need 2 of the tightest rings to perform. Two questions 1. Will injections work for me? and 2. Do they simply make the flaccid penis hard or is there a size increase like before all this mess started? Regards Inkhorn

Well, at least your questions are hard.

Injections almost always work. They will absolutely relax the smooth muscles surrounding the chambers in the corpus cavernosum and allow the pressure of your blood to fill them. That's good for a chubby at least. To get hard you need the arterial bloodflow to get ahead of the venous outflow long enough for your erection to squash the veins that drain the blood out of a flaccid penis. These are pretty much the same veins you've been squashing with your rings.

I don't think anyone on this site can predict for you whether your arterial supply will be sufficient to overcome your leak. I know I can't. Even if I knew what I was talking about, I still couldn't.

It's a try it and see proposition.

If you do try injections and find it difficult to get around your venous leak you might try a constricting band (adjustable) ring. Type "adjustable constricting band erection" into Google and it will probably find you several. I have an "ENHANCE" band and it seems well made. When my hormones wear off I'll probably be able to tell you if it works.

Thanks for your reply.
My next injection will be 90 units. I will keep going at that like you have done. Maybe one day I will be able to get better results and be able to decrease the amount I am injecting like you did.
I am 2 years and 1 month out of surgery maybe things will improve one day.

I started off with a strong script and used 10 units or so.

Went to a weaker script and started at 20 units...to get more in my system and that worked better for me.

Wessy, good luck to you in your quest for better results. I stayed at 95 units on the trimix double for probably 4 months before I started to notice a full erection. And then several weeks later, I was able to start slowly reducing the dosage. I don't know why suddenly the trimix began to work but it did. I hope you have the same level (or better) of success that I did.

My husband had the same experience as Mike. He had to go up to 75 units of super trimix. He was diagnosed with a slight venous leak, in fact. He would get an erection with trimix, but when he lay down it would go away. He stayed at 75 units for a few months. It started to work. He started to reduce the amount of super trimix that he had to use. His venous leak completely went away. Now he uses 9 units of regular trimix.

When he first started injecting I did not think that trimix would work for him, but it does. Even now, if he doesn't inject properly it doesn't work. He injects twice a week for rehab purposes. His last two shots did not work, so I was on the phone with the nurse today (he was not able to make any phone calls) to ask a question for him and the nurse offered some pointers for my husband - he said to make sure my husband's member is pulled completely out when he injects, to keep the 45 degree angle steady (he injects at 10 and 2 o'clock) as he injects, and to make sure that the needle is completely in place before he pushes in the plunger.
