Apparently, the last-minute bookings for the GFMPH Alaska cruise (June 11-15) are coming in later than expected. There is still room on the boat but you guys who have been putting off booking -- probably while you deal with matters like having your prostates removed or basking in the radiation -- but time is running out. So, rather than wait until after you book, when the time will be short, I thought I would provide some necessary information now.
First and most important. Those of you who are having surgery between now and the sailing date should be sure to travel with someone who can lift your suitcase for you. The usual instructions are not to lift anything heavier than 6 lbs in the month following surgery. A typical cruise-ship-bound suitcase can weigh eight times that much. If you need help with your luggage in the port terminal let me know and we can meet up before we go in. My wife is very strong.
Second, you'll need a passport. The cruise is from Whittier, Alaska (US of A) to Vancouver, BC (Canada, eh?) The cruise line needs all passengers to get off the boat when the cruise is over so new passengers who haven't spent all their money can get on. Since they will need throw you off the boat in Canada they require a passport to get
ON the boat in the first place.
Third, tell me when you book so I can add you to our count. The count currently stands a two -- RedWing and me -- so don't wait, space is limited.
The excursions are booked separately from the cruise and they do tend to fill up. So, even if you are not currently planning to go you should pick out your excursions so you will be ready to book them if you change your mind.

As an added bonus, only for those who sign up for the cruise, I will tell you how to put formatted text and tables in a HealingWell posting.
It would really help me if at least one more person would sign on. That way you and RedWing could pretend to squabble and I could moderate right there on the boat.
Thanks,
PeterDA
