Ritalin for ADT fatigue

Messy little study. But one doesn't need a lot of statistical power to confirm something that is so obvious on the face.

Not sure which thread it is you were talking about. We talked about Modafinil on one of my Tana leaves threads.

Good stuff Modafinil. Wish it weren't so darned expensive.

Peter, I have used Modanafil in the past and it is marvelous IMHO. Should I venture down the hormone yellow brick road I would want my Dr. to prescribe. Can you point out the thread?

I would agree with the comments made about Modanafil. It is NOT amphetamine like. I found it quite useful to clear my brain and help me focus. It had no "stimulant" or appetite suppressive feelings with me. I was alert and "not tired" if that makes sense.

It's a schedule 4 controlled substance so you can forget mail-order pharmacies..

I have been taking Modafinil for about four months now and it working great, wouldn't be able to do my job with out it. A 100 mg tab lasts about. 12 hours. I have noticed I developed a minor bit of ademia in my legs since using it, at this point the result out weights the SEs.

No, I pay about 90 cents a pill, and only use it when working. But it's worth it. I had the the choice to have ritalin which insurance would have covered but like liked the fact that modafinil was not a amphetamine .It really works well for me, with in an hour is like it's like I turned on the lights in my brain, it's kind hard to describe, with out it I have this constant fatigue , not like I want to sleep but more like my body has lost all it energy and my head feels heavy.

I seem to recall that a 30 day supply was north of $700. I seem to recall that the pharmacist found a discount that got the price under $600. I know that's cheap as cancer drugs go but six hundred bucks will buy a lot of espresso macchiatos.

I bought 5 of them (for $90) just to see how well they worked.

I have been dealing with severe chronic fatigue for over 14 years now. It was first infused into me from my original radiation episode back in 2000. My oncologist told me at that time, that I would be fortunate to regain 75% level. That was pretty accurate, since I was able to continue to work for another 8 years.

My second ill-fated radiation episode in 2009 finished me off, from a CFS point of view. It knocked me to 100% CFS, and there has been no improvement at all since then, if anything, it continues to worsen with my increasing bouts of severe chronic pain, also related to the radiation.

My current oncologist and I had a good conversation on your subject of the use of Ritalin for alleviating fatigue, whether it be from HT or RT, and he feels its a trade off that has to be carefully weighed out. Yes, it can alleviate some of the symptoms in some men, but can also cause mental and emotional problems on the back side, sometimes even dangerous ones in adults. One has to be careful when choosing their "poisons" so to speak.

He was willing to let me try it for a short term trial or experiment, but cautioned me strongly, not to do it, as he feared it would create more problems, perhaps worse than the chronic fatigue. Being overly cautious about any meds, I took his word on the subject, and have to this day.

For those men whom it helps, I think its great, as long as they were properly warned of some of the associate problems related to its use.

Good piece really, and I do believe it was talked about in the past, and that's ok as well. Lots of new guys here since then.

The last time I checked the price was, maybe, six months ago. It hadn't been generic long. Sooner or later the price will drop. I think.
