I went in for my annual physical today and I was surprised they told me they had the test results from my blood work which I had done the day before at 7 AM.
As of 04/09/2014 my PSA is 3.00, so it is unchanged since December, 2012.
October, 2009: 1.86
November, 2010: 2.1
March, 2012: 2.6
December, 2012: 3.0
April, 2014: 3.0
I asked the doctor if I needed to do any follow-up with the PSA and he said no. The results are being sent to the urologist and I will check with his office too. I admitted how worried I had been and he told me not to worry and don't even think about
the PSA until we check it again next year (April, 2015). He did the DRE and said it was fine and he didn't feel anything suspicious.
I did get a lecture about
losing 15 pounds because my blood sugar level is at 109 and it needs to be at 100 because adult diabetes does run in my family. I told him, losing 15 pounds I can do and I promise the next time he sees me I will have lost the 15 pounds.
I fully realize that the field of medicine can't be 100% certain, but the fact that the PSA didn't increase and I'm not being scheduled for a biopsy I will take as good news.
I am never going to put off things like this. I could have gotten this done last December and would have spent the last 5 months not worrying about
this. This is a lesson learned. Whatever the challenges we face, hiding from them does no good. You all have been very supportive and I learned more about
PC than I had before. THANK YOU!
