Zytiga.... The energizer bunny

Those are all very good questions. I have been on Zytiga for 10 months now. My PSA dropped from over 29 to an undetectable level. I know one person that has been on the drug for over two years now. I have read that there are several people who participated in phase 3 clinical trials that are still on the drug. How long..... I guess perhaps it is a question that we all ask. It is also a question that none of us know the answer to. I assumed that the next drug that I would begin to take would be Xtandi. Recently I found out that there is a good chance of crossover resistance between the two medications. I was diagnosed with this disease at the age of 42. Two months ago I celebrated my 50th birthday. This is what I do know. Currently there is Taxotere docetaxel Jevtana. Tak 709 radium 223 xl-184 xtandi. There is Provenge prostvac ipilumab 2nd line hormone etc. many of these drugs are FDA approved some of them are in various stages of clinical trial. I have not been in the research loop in some time as I have become somewhat complacent due to my overall success in fighting this disease. That being said I am quite certain there are more medications out there that I am unaware of. As I said earlier we all tend to ask ourselves how long. A long time ago I resigned myself to getting the most out of every day. I live my life to the fullest. We are all terminal there's nothing we can do about that. I may live another 30 years and I may drop dead from heart attack tomorrow. The only thing that we really are guaranteed this today. I guess sometimes I get afraid too. Just remember there is hope. Cling to that hope and like me one day you will look back at the distance you have travel and be amazed.

Darn, I missed the original Op post with the good news. I too offer a big grats to you for the amazing success you are seeing! I have been on Zytiga myself now for about a month and hope to have good results.
