Just got back with my uro this afternoon for my 4 years and 3 months POST PSA Check (this is my second annual exam) and the resulting number went up from .03 to .11. He told me not to worry about, this might have been a glitch in the parameter set during the testing. SO he ordered another test in four months. Just let yo all know, I am very well. I don't go as often I used to on this forum. Just got busy at work. Regards to all.

Hopefully, it is just a blip with the testing and nothing to worry about. :)

hope it is just a one time thing, if not, let's say it goes even a tick higher in 4 months, may be on your way to recurrence, hope you never have to find out. come back and let us know.

Just an update from my last post. I had my blood work done in VA last May for my annual check up and PSA went up also to 0.12. Then I had another blood test done yesterday and I got the results today and went up to 0.13. I have an appointment to see my doctor on Monday. I don't know what's going on. Still low but it went up from 0.03 last year to these results. Anybody there got experienced same occurrence. I am still wearing a pad a day for protection for little drops.

What was your post op pathology, the details? the trend indicates recurrence.

I have to go back on my files and see what was the post op pathology. I had it on my signature line but it got lost.

Got back from my doc and he ordered another blood test in Nov. Still low but he's also concern. By the way.. post surgery results: GLEASON 3+4; Preliminary pathology Stage: pT2V,pNO, pMX.

Sorry to learn you are moving in the wrong direction. You might want to consider a second opinion with a radiology oncologist. It might be time to get that secondary treatment plan lined up. Keep us informed, we wish you the best as you explore your options moving forward.

It looks like you are heading in the wrong direction, but FWIW, my course looks similar to what yours is so far. I hit 0.1 about 5 years after my open RP. I thought then that I'd be headed for SRT soon, but I actually stayed stable at 0.1 for 3 years. I eventually had SRT 3 years ago when my PSA hit 0.4. As of now my PSA is 0.00. So if your course continues to parallel mine you may still be a few years away from further treatment. Best of Luck.

I can understand completely you cant help but worry have fingers & toes crossed for you
hope it is just a blip hope next test is better. I have just had mine done last week I always
do the same thing a week before it is due by urologist I go to my GP and get blood drawn for
PSA test then the following week get it down by my urologist by this time already know result
I find it takes a lot of the stress out plus I can compare both so far 3 yrs 3 mouth have always
been the same.Thinking and sending good wishes your way.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. Just an update on my latest PSA result done on Nov 1. It went up again. This time it's 0.25. My URO made me talked to Oncologist for possible Radiation Therapy. We discussed a lot of things, like how it will be done, how many sessions I have to go there, how will affect my body while undergoing radiation, side effects etc. He told me that there is no guarantee if it works for me. I did not commit yet, because we could do it after Christmas. It gets me worried, still low but I am reading some of the previous posts that not necessarily a cancer stuff that makes the PSA rise but tissues left during the surgery. Other posts, they were put on AVODART and then PSA leveled off to 0.1. Someone suggested me to take a lot of herbal supplement. I am also thinking of going to VA for consult,like a second opinion. I'll keep you posted on this journey. Hopefully, I don't have to resort to radiation. But if that what it takes then I have to do it.

the problem with waiting or trying other drugs like Avodart is the optimum window for SRT is quickly passing you by.  if it were me i'd be getting zapped NOW.  I would have been treating this as a recurrence earlier.  but that's just me.

Hello Everybody,

I went fro a second opinion at the VA in Dec and he agrees with the SRT. He also mentioned about hormone therapy. Something that I have to ask my Uro. I did a herbal treatment for 4 months and when I had my blood test last Monday it went up to 0.3. I am going to see my doctor tomorrow and we will discuss what will be the best course of action.

.25 is not low and with the .3, you have, arguably, an official BCR. having said that walsh says avg time to mets is 8 years., untreated,i.e. I would go on HT prior to SRT and if you respond well to that postpone srt and stay on HT. Im also in the camp Of waiting for double digit psa for HT, skipping the SRT, and taking Capaisin{hot papers} treatment. I ts working for don Imus.. You sound low key, so you probably have the temperament for the a wait to see whats happening. I would add the campfire is big, but not particularly crowded.

BTW, did you have nerve sparing surgery. There could be inflammation on residual prostate tissue skimmed off the walnut and sticking to the nerve bundles. A bcr sounds odd this long after even with a soft gl7 What kind of "doc"is treating you and where?

Just got back from from my uro this afternoon. He said that Hormonal Therapy is not recommended on my case because on my post pathology it was 3+4 Gleason. The PSA almost tripled within a year. He ordered bonne scan again. I talked already to the Radiation last year and he told me that he will beam it to the prostate bed and pelvic region.

Hello Everybody. Just an update. Bone scan was done at Travis AFB. Good results. Me and the radiation oncologist discussed the SRT. My URO put the gold marker on the area where the prostate used to be then the radiation oncologist did initial planning where I went some sort of biopsy and they also put markers (tattoo) where they will be beaming the radiation two weeks ago. Now they called me this afternoon that next Tuesday will be my initial treatment and from there we will discuss the succeeding treatments like time scheduling at least the same time everyday for however it takes (I think 7 weeks Mon-Fri No weekends). he did ordered another PSA check.

Well, we pray that this is the right course of action and thanks for you all for your support as I support also you all with my thought and prayers.

Hello Everybody.

We started the radiation therapy this afternoon. After which , they gave me a list of food and drinks to avoid during this treatment. This treatment is everyday except weekend for 37 days. I have to put on sick leave tomorrow for 30 minutes for the next 37 working days. I hope and pray this is the right course of action to treat the rising PSA and subsequently eliminating it. If somebody is going through or had gone through it, please share your experience and thoughts on your treatment. I'll keep you posted on mine.
