hi everyone,
after one year of HT vacation and almost 1.5 years after my SRT ,where my psa always stayed <0.003. I recieved my april PSA today and it's 0.034. It seems a great jump after only 3 months.I don't how PSADT is accurate in just a low PSA, but it is a schock for me. What next is my question.as this the place where I received advices and hope when I was really upset!

Tall Allen just said in another thread that PSADT may not be valid in cases such as yours. As I recall what your PSADT was prior to treatment, however as opposed to what your current PSADT is after you get another PSA or two to see the trend, may have some predictive value.

Regardless, as PSA starts to rise, have to look at coming off Lupron holiday or going onto something like Avodart to reverse the trend.

Looks like you may have a duplicate post under new user name Alinur, that you should be able to go into and delete.

yes ,I deleted the other post. I really don't want to start HT soon .May be C11 choline pet is my next option .But on what PSA and what happens during that waiting time to cancer spreading is my concern.
I took avodart all during vacation period.

CRAPS!!! I hate to read this. This hits home as I started my HT vacation in Feb.

Keep in mind that 0.03 is still very low and it might not mean anything.

Did you get a T-level?

I think Dr. Lam said the magic number is2.0 (or maybe 5.0).

When it rises again, he suggests I visit Mayo and get the C11 scan.

I assume I would then have to go back on HT for a year and assuming it works again I would get another HT vacation.

Not real sure about that, however.

I will be seeing Lam on 6/24

my last T was 557 more than my baseline. paradoxically my DHT was rising while on avodart because ,may be,due to my fast rising T after I stopped HT.I should have doubled my avodart dose at that time ,but i ignored!
Tomorrow i will have another PSA,T and other tests in another lab( I usually do 2 tests in diff. labs. so far they matched.tomorrow I hope not to!). Iwill inform you the results.

A C11 may be an expensive overkill test with your PSA being .03. Though you have a rise, its still microscopic in the bigger picture of things. I would think you would need several more PSA tests spread over the next year to fully determine if anything is really going on to require additional treatment.

That is my future plan when PSA reaches 2 or more. what worries me is the sudden rise of PSA from <0.003
for 1 year and then to 0.034 in 3 months ,that is 10 times! I knew I have a high risk cancer, and things are not all over,but I hoped a steady rise looking at my evolution as shown in my signature.

I would not try to determine doubling time at such low levels.

With all these 0's and 3's are we should the lab is correct? Are you using the same lab with the same testing mechanism? about a year or so ago I got a reading of .006 for 2 straight months...no <. Here to find out LabCorp changed there lower level readings...just a thought.

I know any change like this is upsetting, but let's get all the info.. and more PSAs in the months to come...to see if there is any trend...then plan an attack......get the facts, make a plan, implement the plan...

As i said before,i use 2 labs at the same time . one paid by my insurance and one is private (paid by me).I always tried my PSA reading be accurate.They both have the same testing mechanisms:ELECTRCHEMILUMINISCENE KITS with detecting limit 0.003. so far my PSA was under their limit;
i.e <0.003. waiting tomorrow the other result from the second lab. But they never mismatched.

PSADT computed from low values of PSA from ultrasensitive PSA test is not the same as from standard PSA tests and cannot be used to assess your risk (see link below). At minimum, your oncologist will probably want to see a pattern established over time.

Yes, PSADT can be useful for determining risk if there is a recurrence. It's only using the ultrasensitive test with low numbers that is controversial in that case. It tends to overstate the risk.

PSADT at these very levels is not meaningful.

My suggestion is to test every two months for next six months and see if you have a regular increasing trend, not just one elevated reading. And then you will begin to get an idea of what you are dealing with in terms of PSADT. But it still won't be very accurate. No scan of any kind has the ability to find anything at PSA as low as yours - unless it's with someone who has a very unusual cancer strain that doesn't generate PSA.

I recieved my PSA from the second lab. a bit higher 0.041,but T=537 , FSH=35.6 (very high),LH=20.21(v.high). ED since RP . is there any relation between these markers and PSA progression?
