I'm now nearly 73 years old. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in November of 2010, and had nerve-sparing open surgery in December. I have long been phobic about radiation, so I tried to avoid it. A rising PSA 6 month post surgery required me to drop my reservations, and not only did I have radiation but it was followed by 2 years of Lupron Depot injection therapy. I've been off Lupron for more than a year and have found that my libido has returned and is strong. The problem is not cancer - I'm clear! PSA remains undetectable. But erectile disfunction, having been a problem since before the cancer diagnosis, is now the state of things. I've taken the major ED drugs, including MUSE, and nothing produces enough rigidity for penetration. It's pretty frustrating. The next step according to my urologist is penile injections, using what I suspect will be Caverject. The urologist doesn't use bi-mix or tri-mix, which I've read about on this site.
The prices I've been quoted for injectibles seem very high, but I suspect that those doing the dispensing, and often those doing the administering, don't know much about the amounts used per injection, and whether the vial must be used each time in its entirety.
Can anybody help clear this up for me, and likewise, can you refer me to a reliable compounding pharmacy that makes bi-mix and tri-mix, and can inform me as to what I can expect?
Many thanks,
Laurence R.
