2nd opinion from urologist on rads

Urologist says go for the rads because of my age 48 and getting it before it goes anywhere else.
He says best chance for a cure.
Are there any gleason 6 guys who regret getting rads.
Just really on the fence right now

rrp on 4/27/2011
gl 6 before and after with 4.2 psa at surgery
yr 1 <0.1
yr 2 0.1
yr 2.5 0.2
Only thing I can see from path test was perineural tested positive that seemed unfavorable.
I had two psa in the last month both at 0.2
rrp and rad onc say go for rads.

I also had hodgkins disease 15 yrs ago that influenced their decision to go for rads.

I can see why you're on the fence. However, your PSA is where most doctors would recommend radiation.

There is a very good possibility that you halt it in its tracks with the radiation.

In your place I'd be thinking and scheduling the treatment. I'd go with your doctor's advice.

Had ten months of chemo and 5 wks rads 15 yrs ago for hodgkins and was like hell on earth that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.
Im leaning toward rads because I got 2 opininions and 2 psa tests.

Rad onc seems to think I will tolerate rads well.
I have no lasting effects from rrp .
No ed and no urinary incontinence . Rad onc doesn't think
I will have any lasting neg effects from rads although I know nothing is guaranteed.

Sounds like you have a plan of action that hopefully will knock out the cancer. what town are you located in. Just curious about where you will have the radiation.

I live just outside Philadelphia and I saw a rad onc named nico nicodeau who comes from fox chase cancer center.
He has an office in bala cynwyd pa.

Still surprised at your situation. G6 with low PSA and neg margins/organ contained and now .2 psa in 2.5 years. Were your doctors surprised? I asked you what your tumor volume was and you said 19.7. Was that 19.7cc? Was that the percentage. How big was the prostate? High volume would be a risk factor for BCR - you have no other factors. Not being nosey but just trying to make sure you get things right. I had surgery at Thomas Jefferson with Costas Lallas. You could get a second XRT opinion there and maybe get a path reread. Good luck.
