Time to say farewell to Healing Well Prostate Cancer forum....very bittersweet to me

I am very sad to see you go but I understand and I wish you well. I have been working a lot and haven't been on here much. I thought I would take a quick peek and seen this. I'm lost for words. All I can say is thank you David for all that you have given here. You have helped many people , me included. You are a true warrior pc brother and you will be missed dearly. This Sunday I will be walking 5k to benefit pc research and to raise awareness. I am now going to dedicate my walk in your honor. Again, I wish you well and I will continue to pray for you. Be happy my friend.

Dave/Purg, I happily became one of those members for whom the surgery and side effects became distant memories. Still though, three plus years later, I would frequently check in for the sole purpose of seeing how you were faring. I almost never had something more profound to add to a post than was already there, so I didn't post. But I did always keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

all I can say, is that I never say "never". circumstances change, same reason I don't make promises, too many things can break a promise despite one's best intention.

So surprised when I checked in to HW and saw your thread. What can I add?.. Ditto Wings of Eagles and the other posts wishing you well in your endeavors after HW. Feels a little like a retirement party, another chapter ending. I'll stay in touch via email.

Guess you are right, didn't think of it as a "retirement" party, but not a bad analogy. There are so many sharp minds here at HW PC, and though no one is saying this, I was starting to feel I have wore out my welcome after nearly 24k posts and nearly 6 years at the helm so to speak.

I rarely have anything new to offer in the way of answers, can only repeat what I have personally experienced in my own twisted journey. Much of it would not apply to the average PC guy

I am not one that's good with the PC research stuff, we have others on board well gifted at that kind of information.

We each do our own unique part here, and together, it makes for a pretty good team effort. No one has all the answers, like each person has their own part to contribute.

What always has saddened me here over the years, is the never ending stream of new men/women that enter our portals here. And with 1 of 6 men being dx. every year with PC, it will always be a swinging or revolving door.

I am thankful, however, that people, regardless of their means, manage to find their way to Healing Well in the first place. When I started to look for something like this back in October of 2008, Healing Well just happened to be the very first place I saw on a random Google search. Been here ever since.

I was offered the same kind of care, support, advice, and wisdom that you see going on now in 2014.

It's been a good place, and like any other "family", there have, and always will be tifts and spats from time to time - to be expected, as so many suffer physically, mentally, and emotionally in their own PC battles and fights. But in the end, most see the common good of such a forum.

I will always be thankful to Peter (the owner) and his original vision and "mission plan" for his Healing Well site. With all the associated forums that make up this place, it's been a gold mine and a blessing for well over 100,000 members, let alone the sheer number of lurkers over the years.

I honestly don't know of a better forum out on the net, that is consistently as sound and productive as HW, and I mean that from the heart.

I have peeked at others out there, where someone will ask even a simple question, and still not have even a single response a week or two later. It's a rare day here at HW, when the average question isn't answered within the first hour or less of being posted, at least by someone.

Update: 6-16

Having the CAT scans done this Thursday at 10 AM. A chest one done with contrast. Still not sure why all the empathis is on my chest. Then a pelvic with contrast. Then an abdomen with contrast. All back to back.

Just glad this gastro doctor is taking all this seriously, and running the scans, and checking the biopsies closely.

Ate 2 scrambled eggs tonight, only food of the day, and even that cramped me up bad. So utterly pointless for me to eat anything anymore. Not worth the pain and cramping to me. Sooner they can find an answer, the better I will feel.

I feel I have done several tours of duty here over the years, and taking the retirement path, at least that is the game plan. So many more capable people here these days to fill any gap. If I am ever around at any point in the future, perhaps I will have new stories to tell, instead of the same aged ones.

I hope you are personally doing well. Your husband was a good man, we still miss him here as well.
