Actually, I've learned quite a bit in this thread.

 

I still maintain the bottom line is finding the best medico. Period.

 

But there appears to be a sexual orientation aspect in terms of seeking out a compassionate/knowledgeable physician.

 

I doubt if it is uniquely a gay aspect.

 

Anyway I never thought of this before.

 

Regarding the OP, it is still strange that he hasn't responded and provided more details from his perspective.

Was going to stay out of this, being only days away from leaving HW, but I am a man of principle.

I agree with Tud's take, and Tall Allen's take, on Gunfighter's remark.

I consider Gun a special brother, beyond the PC bond, and he knows why.

But there is nothing noble or brave or cool about openly admitting to being a bigot or racist in any form.

It's wrong, plain wrong. There's no way to take what he said, except in the context of it hurting someone, and it would seem clearly in violation of both rule and spirit of HW in general.

If it were me saying that, and getting called out, I would retract the remark and apologize, but that's me. I won't let pride (real or false) get in the way of doing the right thing.

That's all I will say about it.

Well, all good things must come to an end. In the future, I'll have to ask my gay friends if I'm homophobic and a bigot. I'll stand by my personal preference regarding not having an openly gay physician perform a PCa screening test on me.
Since members who I have the highest regard for abhor my comment and do not desire to have future communications with me, the only solution I have is just to leave.

Bill, only speaking for myself, you are still my friend, I just don't happen to agree with your one remark here. I have friends that I strongly disagree with their political, moral, and religious views, but we are still friends.

I see no reason for you to leave, I certainly wouldn't be suggesting or hinting at that. Your words on the subject just hit a nerve with me. I would have said the same thing to your face, if we were talking in person as friends. Just wanted to make that clear.

You guys are a bunch of really, really good guys. I have five kids. Sometimes I had to tell them to "just move on... and I am saying that because I love you." I hate it when the adults in the room are fighting. I look up to all you guys, and each of you has contributed a lot to my recovery. Let's not let this long gone OP tear up this forum. I don't post a lot, but this thread feels like it has nothing to do with the problems we are facing. This is not CNN.
