I wanted to introduce myself as a new member to the club - one of such distinction. I've been lurking for awhile but decided I might as well become a full fledge member. This site has been very useful and I appreciate all the topics that are discussed and the useful information that is shared.
As to my story:
2/18/14 - found out my PSA was 14.91 (from routine physical - PSA had been climbing for several years - biopsy in 2009 was negative))
3/27/14 - biospy performed
4/14/14 - results - 4 cores positive, 3 (3+4) and 1 (3+3), all right side prostate - recommended options were surgery or radiation (my Drs practice performs surgery, not radiation but recommendations were provided)
4/23/14 - Dr consult on options - plus lots of internet searching on all things PC - it's amazing how much info is available - it's much harder to process, understand, and make an informed decision - talked to several friends that have gone through radiation or surgery - pretty much decided that surgery was best for me
5/8/14 - Dr consult (surgeon) - no new info that I didn't already know except about the Dr, number of surgeries performed, typical outcome of his patients, etc. - decided to go ahead with the surgery
5/21/14 - blood work (no issues)
5/23/14 CAT scan (no issues)
5/27/14 - cardiologist exam (no issues but wanted an echocardiogram to compare to previous exam from 2 years ago)
6/9/14 - flexible cystoscopy (not a lot of fun but interesting to view the bladder from the inside - no issues)
6/10/14 - echocardiogram
6/13/14 - give 1 unit of blood (just in case it's needed during surgery)
6/22/14 - start taking cialis
6/23/14 - 2nd unit of blood
6/27/14 - hospital pre-admission meeting
7/2/14 - 7:30am surgery (da vinci)
After that we'll see......
