Wife just diagnosed with IDC

Hello,

5 months ago my wife decided to cut out sugar from her diet and she has lost 30 lbs since then. As she lost the weight, she noticed a lump in her breast. The doctor looked at it and found a second one as well. Biopsy was yesterday and the doctor called today with the news - my wife has Invasive Ductile Carcinoma.

This is tough, we have been dealing with my cancer and now this. It easier (in my limited experience) to be the one with cancer than the spouse - I don't like her being sick.

Surgeon calling today to set appointment for discussion.

I post on here for my husband who has locally advanced prostate cancer. I post on breast cancer blogs for numerous friends who are battling various types/stages of breast cancer. I post on bladder cancer blogs for an uncle who had a bladder completely rebuilt due to cancer, and on a site for a friend in Stage V colon cancer. Throughout, my findings have been that science has brought about "miraculous" advancements to help in our battles, and compassionate comrades-in-arms are always there to pick us up when we stumble. I too am a cancer survivor. You and your wife will get each other through this. And when you need a helping hand, I've found that this site will always be there to "pick you up."

Pat, I'm real sorry to hear about that extra blow that has hit you guys, the 1st one was more than enough. We have had a similar situation with our daughter in law during the last couple of months. But I'm with you: as bad as it has been having PC, better me than them! God bless you and yours, Pat!

Pat, sincerely wishing your wife a good recovery. My mother-in-law developed Bca 2 years ago, and although my husband (her son - a Pca survivor) did not think he was that helpful at the time, he really was, and his mum did draw on his support. He assisted her through it emotionally, and we now share her waiting for test results etc, just as she shared ours 7 years ago. Its a huge shock for you both but you might find the ladies on the HW breast cancer board is helpful for any specific questions about treatment she is considering.
