Blood in semen

Hi EK and welcome to Healing Well. The good news is that your PSA is dropping nicely...congratulations. After 5 months the blood in your semen should have cleared up by now. Have you been getting the blood regularly since the procedure or is this a new/sporadic phenomenon? You should discuss this with your RO and urologist ASAP.

about 30% of brachytherapy patients will experience some ED. Usually it does not happen right away and, if it comes, it is a year or so down the road. Your issue is very early. One more piece of good news, however, is that brachy patients with ED usually respond very well to one of the ED drugs. Discuss this with your urologist and give something a try to see if it helps.

BTW, many patients are also weaned off the Flomax by this time...not all but many. What does your uro say about this?

Yes,blood in semen since the procedure.I stopped the Flomax on my own,but he put me back on it 3 weeks ago.Very concerned about only having half an erection.
BTW I had issues with the Brackytherapy.Bad swelling after the 1st week and had to have another catheter inserted for a week.Dr gave me antibiotics (Cepro) 3 weeks ago,when I reported blood in semen,but still have it.

EK, what was your prostate size and how many seeds were implanted? Palladium or Iodine? The Palladium seem to cause more harsh symptoms that come quicker but then ease up earlier. Sounds like he thought the blood in the semen was from an infection but obviously not.

Get back to your docs quickly on this as it's not right. Also, give the ED meds a try to see if they help in that department.

Palladium and 103 seeds.Don't know the size,but he did inform me it wasn't large by comparison.
Never had ED till this procedure..
