Not from my prostate cancer, at least not directly.....in Dec 2012 I was dx stage 3 rectal cancer....3 of my docs say most likely from the SRT in 2004...they compared the radiation field against where the tumor was....almost a certainty !!

In Jan 2013 I had 9-10 inches of my sigmoid colon and rectum removed and replaced with a permanent colostomy...yup another gift of prostate cancer !! I also did 6 months of a very difficult chemo...now on a routine follow up a year later, I have tumors in my liver..... confirmed by a CT last Tues and then a Pet Ct on Fri....yet another prostate cancer gift !!

I will be meeting with the Chief of Liver Surgery at UCSF tomorrow.....probably will lose 1/3 of my liver.....it does grow back...you can actually up to 70% or so and do ok !! Hopefully I will be operable...then another 4 months of chemo every other week.

All my health issues started with Pca in 2002.... currently I am hormone refractory, needing a plan of attack, however the liver mets are a bigger fire right now.

Sure am getting tired of being job security for the medical field. Right now I am working on a serious attitude adjustment...I've done all can do....so much uncertainty over which I have no control...to preserve my sanity I refuse to obsess over any of this...which by the way is eaisier said than done.....the struggle goes on.

sorry my friend to read of this new and further disturbing development. it just keeps pouring on for you. I am hoping the best for you, and you are correct, you can get by fine with a huge portion of a liver removed if need be. the surgery can be rough, as well as the recovery, however, with all you have been through, I am certain you would move forward with a good attitude. all you can do is roll with the punches. will be thinking of you, and hope to read some good news despite this happening to you

Hi ziggy, that is too much for one person, but it is said you get no heavier burden than you can handle. You have showed an amazing resilience, and I am sure it will continue through this fight with both diseases. You know that "oligometastatic" disease term-idea-concept for PC, came from rectal cancer, because doctors could control (or cure) metastatic disease by resecting the liver. It has become a standard practice. I hope it works for you, and that your team of doctors give their best when the surgery day comes. As for PC, well, there are enough experts on HW to offer you plenty of great ideas. When I need a fresh outlook on life, I take a trip (day, two, three) to get out of the circular thinking. Well, at least that is what I did before kids. :)

..Ziggy, This life can be or is a SOB, so much pain and suffering all around us. The trials and tribulations of this life make for a hard road. Yet though the road is tuff there is amazing beauty in the breath taking view as we make our way. Just think of all the joy and love you have been blessed to witness in this life and give thanks my brother. Please use those good feelings to stomp out the work of the devil like suffering and disease.. No matter what happens you will be alright, cause you are good..

I had two 2cm mets in my liver last year. I had Tomotherapy in July. I had a cat scan in May and the liver mets were mostly gone. They can

You are definitely a warrior against these beasts. I am saddened by what you've endured, but encouraged by your attitude in facing what comes next. I hope you feel the support from all of us as you continue to prop up others amidst your struggle.

I have thought of you and your new issue all day, couldn't get it off my mind. We each have some different and difficult journeys, I really feel for yours, as its been one major hit after the other.

Will continue to think of you, and hope you can find some courage and encouragement in this latest challenge.

Thanks all....and David with all you have been through I especially appreciate your thoughts, there are a lot of similarities in our paths.

I met with the liver surgeon yesterday....Chief of Liver Surgery @ UCSF... walks in and introduces himself as Carlos !! This really broke the tension...no ego problems here, just a competent professional. Anyway, both he and my colorectal oncologist agree..... 2 months of chemo, then surgery to remove the tumor, then 2 more months of chemo. Tumor located in a difficult spot, but thinks he may be able to do it laproscopically.....the port goes in next Friday, chemo to start the following week. Geez, it is hard to count all the gifts I have received from Prostate Cancer !!!! David you have received a fair share yourself.

SRT is a good and positive tool that can and does help many, but it has a real ugly side for sure.

Ziggy I too am wishing you the very best in your fight with this abomination! I think all who can and will should pick a certain time in the next day or so and all of us at the same time think positive thoughts and call upon Jehovah Rophi regarding your situation and claim victory over this nasty enemy that is trying to come against Ziggy.
