Follow up to my previous thread which has more details. Nutshell:
58, healthy, saw funky PSA #'s, follow up with PCA3 = 81, 2 more PSA funkier still, Targeted Fusion Biopsy Leonard Marks. Saw had area of interest 7mm, hit it and rest of gland...
8/8/2014 is the day I learned I have cancer:
3 of 16 positive, 3+3=6
2 in targeted area of suspicion: 1@4mm (35%) - 1@ 7mm (70%)
1 outside the area but not far from: 3.5mm (30%)
All in mid right, so not too close the the important stuff!
Rest of gland clear on this biopsy anyway. Sending to Epstein with Dr. Marks blessing. Meantime seems AS is appropriate with bloods and biopsy in 6 months. Could do something focal now but seems overkill for the moment. I'm young and that could change, but seems this could go away or never move up the scale.
Already upped my Vit D3 and stared curcumin (Longvida), and reservtrol (not a huge believer in the science of supps but cheap insurance), staying with my active exercise program, reducing consumption of red meat. I had been taking Glucosimine Chondroitin but dropped after reading some small but possible risks of PC.
So there you have it, I am an official but very junior member of the club. Any input appreciated, i.e. other opinions etc., but thanks to this site and all you selfless guys here and the other sites you frequent (solid month of reading), I went in far more knowledgeable and left far calmer than I would have.

Sorry we have to welcome you to the club none of us wanted to join.
Sounds like you have a great attitude and are doing all the right things.
It will be a day you will always remember, the day you were diagnosed.
Good Luck to you

Gleason 6 is low risk so don't rush into treatment! You'll do fine with AS!

Hi Jdad-
Sorry to welcome you to our lousy club.
If you are interested, there is a prostate cancer support group that meets the second Monday of every month from 6-8PM at the Cancer Support Community Benjamin Center in Santa Monica. There are several guys who use Dr. Marks, and several on AS, so you'll get a lot of support if that is your decision.
I'm looking forward to meeting you after your trip.
