I am very happy that I have found this site. I don't k now what took me so long. It was very easy. I have suffered incontinence since my prostate surgery in August, 2004. I had a sling surgery in March, 2007. It worked for a couple of months, then failed. I had another sling surgery in January, 2008. Again it worked for a couple of months, then failed, though not as much as first, and I have since been able to use pads instead of those darn underwear. PSA began to show again in early 2011, and I had radiation in early 2012. PSA once again undetectable.
Radiation worsened incontinence some, and I now am using 4-5 pads a day. Leak, leak, leak. I retired recently and could continue with this routine, but would like to lead a more physically active life, including getting back on the golf course after many years. The thought of that now is not too appealing.
I am discussing the AMS 800 with my urolologist, the idea of which I have previously avoided. He believes it will work, though I may not be 100% dry. I have done some reading, but I have found no comments about doing the spincture implant after TWO slings have failed. My urologist does not seem to be concerned, but he has had no patient with such a history before implanting the AMS 800.
Has anyone out there had a similar experience as mine?
Thanks so much,
Mike
